Graphic lag inside the palace in Ter Mur

Quick question, I have terrible graphics lag when I run up the stairs of the palace in Ter Mur, aswell as when I'm walking inside of it. Character's start to grind to a halt with every step. When I recall away to any other place, boom, problems gone...

My computer's 1 year old but it's a beast of a machine. The card I have can easily cope with a wide arrange of the newest games out there. Am I the only one who's experiencing this problem?..

When I recall into the Queen's Forge area, I'm able to run fine btw. But that's inside...

I have this problem too, I think it's just the amount of graphics that need loading, It's a huge palace and Queen Zhah doesn't even seem to use it!

Aye several of us on GL's have talked about this very thing.....

We were saying how we think it stinks that in order to get the best imbuing you have to go to the laggiest place in all of sossaria.....

We complained that the palace seems to be extremely laggy and wished we didn't have to go there to get a bonus to imbuing.

I noticed this a while back, but thought it was just me. I just don't go there now

I noticed it during beta and there was nothing they could really do they said, if i'm remembering right. Its just because of how damn big the place is.

I bet you anything though, that that place would have been one of those areas that would have benefitted greatly from being KR-Only. Something about a palace thats so overly big it lags the classic client just screams "we were doing something different but got blocked".

I have the same problem, when I recall in to the soulforge it takes a couple seconds for the palace to draw in...

Odd, I don't have this issue...I read this and went and tested it. Just another UO anomoly lol.

I use the EC and it always takes a few seconds for the palace area to load, but once it is loaded I don't think I have too many problems with lag there.

I had the stuttering lag in certain places within the Abyss, too. When I loaded the new patch, I noticed a setting for Disk Cache and it was at the lowest setting of 256MB. I changed this to 1024 (Max) and restarted and the video lag was almost gone! This made a HUGE difference. I don't know if this setting was there before, but I've made every adjustment possible for performance improvements and this single change has made the most difference. I'm sure it's in addition to client code improvements in the patch.

Try this change in the EC to see if it will improve your video lag.

Seems to me I already have this set at max, but I'll double check it.

I've set everything at max some time in the past. I don't know if it got reset with a patch or when I installed one of the Mods, but this certainly improved the video lag, and easy to check.

In case other EC users don't know where to find this, it's under the Main Menu > User Settings, Options tab and the Disk Cache drag bar.
