OK, so I finally got my Mage/Necro up to 100 Spirit Speak, so I can exorcise the Souls and get threads at last (yes, I know. I am late, late, late, LATE).

So I pop in and the Red Souls zoom in on me... I mean literally zoom in, they move in fast forward, and proceed to make me dead with a 8-on-one gangbang.

After three times I just gave up. Not getting the knack of it, here.

When they are one on one, they aren't too difficult, but they seem to be moving like Superman with a hotfoot. Is this because I'm playing the SA client? I've noticed in the SA/KR client there are often differences in the speed the monsters move.

It has nothing to do with which client you are using... they are just fast! I used a sampire with high DCI and really don't have an issue with them ganging up on me. Use momentum strike or a weapon with whirlwind to take multiples out... the Cheif's Scepter works really well since it leeches 100% mana, even though it is a little slow.

If there are too many to handle at once, try crossing over from Trinsic and clearing out a zone of them and keep it cleared out.

Thanks, OMoU... so it's just old fashioned lack of aptitude that's gettin' me killed! :p

I'm still kinda sketchy on the whole threads quest. Do I need to have a cloak of corruption to start? If so, I prolly shouldn't bother.

They summon each other to the fight and don't have a lot of patience for being kited ... so if you are starting to get swarmed, things will get worse in a hurry (I've often wondered if this was originally an experiment for goblin AI that didn't end up being used).

They are very weak to poison. A macer-samurai/paladin with a wrath of the dryad that can mow through them. But if you're going there with a necromancer to exorcise, I'd try to lure them off rather than killing them.

If you have a stealther I'd try swapping skills so you are stealth/hiding/SS/necro, that way you can get the threads from SS and from exorcising, and hide when you need to. I would find a good spot where the grey ones would wander by and then hide untill the red ones had moved off my screen. Then I'd SS here and there when yellow ones would pop up nearby. Worked great!

Just cas a couple EVs in an area where you are using SS on the one guys. Invis when you need to. Ive really had no problem running off screen and invising if i get 5 or 6 on me. Also they easily die to a explosion fireball combo.

I used a Mage/Necro with 100 Spell Resist, casting poison strike and pain spike, of course having a rune to the north beach helps a lot when going there, less of the red ones up that way. I also use UOA for the pain spike, last target.

Well, right now the only thing the threads are good for are to convert the Cloak of Corruption. If you don't have one or can't buy one at a good price... you "prolly shouldn't bother."

Normally I have a pretty good time in Magincia.

Yesterday, I was making another jewelry store runebook for a character. I saw the Maginica Jewelry store, and I recalled into there to mark a rune. I just didn't think about it... It took me about 2 or 3 secs to realize what was happening.

It was not a good place to buy jewels, and thank God I didn't have the packhorse full of jewels with me.

I used a nox necro mage..... I would go in cast a couple of EV's then lay out tons of deadly poison fields... that seemed to cut thru them red ones pretty quick... they certainly weren't so apt to gank me... especially if I just stood inside my own poison fields and withered them too... dropped them real fast.

If you can get to the theater on top of the tavern they won't attack you and you can exorcise safely as well as spirit speak the souls below(assuming the tavern is intact on other shards like it is on pacific)

It usually takes me one flamestrike and one magic arrow to kill the corrupted souls. Either run protection or run circles around them while you cast.

I peace peace peace myself until I can run to a safe place to use SS. Usually not too hard to find a spot where you won't be swarmed and eaten for dinner. I also have SS on a thief char so I can use stealth to my advantage as well.

Isn't the rubble quest still active with the NPC near the Magincia moongate?

i think the quest is still active, but i am sure a lot players dont know that it exist, otherwise they wouldnt pay millions for rubbles you get from the quest turning in some easy to get threads.

i didnt know it too for a long time before i was running in the quest giver by accident

When I was doing this, I used a necro/mage so that I could use EV against the corrupted souls while I concentrated Spirit Speak and Exorcism on the others. Of course, I just used a macer when I was actually going after threads from the corrupted souls.

The quest giver is still there, but I believe that it is a one time per character quest.
