Are pre-patched golems worth anything?

I just came back to uo and I was using a golem to raise some skills and someone mentioned golems don't work anymore.

I guess new ones only have 99% Poison resist or something.

I see guys whacking away at some spider from SA now with 100% poison weapons.

Yeah I heard golems were changed so you could not sit and attack a golem to gain skill, but now wolf spiders have 100% poison resist. Not sure why golems had to be stopped.

I guess any golem created before the patch is still 100% poison resist instead of the 99%.
