Have you ever lost everything you had, account, houses, rares and what not. Not play for years just to come back?

I did it. Played from 1998 to 2003, at which point my accounts went to some friends who still played. Seven years later I came back to UO with a couple new accounts and started from scratch. It's been almost two years since I got back and I'm having a great time.

Played 1998 to just a bit after AOS. Gave everything away and deleted all characters, scrapped the account.

Came back a year later ... no idea of any of the account info so started a new one. Closed that and some other accounts I had built up just last year.

haven't played since.

I didn't so much lose everything, I voluntarily let most of it drop.

And I came back just over a year ago and I'm back to where I was, although funny enough, I worked over the weekend to bank everything or store it on characters, so that I don't have much in my houses, in case I get the urge to leave UO or move elsewhere within the shard.

I probably should have banked a few things before the last time I took a break, but it was kind of liberating in a way - just walking away for a few years. Once you've done it, it's easy to do again.

I lost everything that I had due to forgetting email addresses and and password information. I started again last night and never in my life have I found more helpful and friendly people any mmorpg game I have played. I started with Dark Age of Camelot, then WoW, played EQ2 and so on. Today a 9x14 house was given to me, I've been given armor, a full spell book, friendly advice (priceless) and a good since of community which I think is lacking in every other game I've played. This game is like a hidden gem.

So glad to have you back and that you are enjoying yourself! Welcome.

I've never had the courage to lose my pixels. I stopped playing just before SA and only came back in the last few months but I actually paid for my (2) accounts during that entire time so its like I never left except for all the new stuff I've had to learn. My husband and I have side by side houses we didn't want to lose and lots of collected junk :)

*ahem* or is that collected pixel crack?

Played from 1997 to 2009 with minor spurts off but always paid up account. My new wife wanted to see more of me, and I knew I couldn't quit unless I deleted everything, so that is what I did.

Well, about a year ago things settled down at home and winter boredom kicked in so I picked the game back up. I have leveled 4 new characters to at least the same skill as my old, and although do not have the rares collection as before, I do have all that I need to play.

Looking forward to what this year will bring to the game.

I played 2000-2002 then I met my future wife. *coughs* I had to get rid of my UO account. Then I started in 2005 from scratch. Took me a long time to build again. If I was to lose everything again, I will NOT start ever again.

Good for you kiddo!!

This is why UO is such a good game.. We have good people who are willing to help out a returning player or a new one as well. If you need to know or relearn a skill or how to do it just give us a yell here. One of our great people will be happy to give you a heads up.

One reason for this, is most other MMO's have the "CareBear" approach. you lose nothing when you're an A-hole on most of them, in UO people can actually do something about it, Deception plays a big role, even though people do not like it.

What would Real life be, if there was no good or evil?

Good + Evil = balanced. too much of one, and it would be bad.

So far the people I have meet in UO are the same type of people I like to meet in real life.

Yup, I lost everything. I let my real life friend use my account's was my first mistake. He ended up scamming a player, they got into my account took everything and then deleted all my characters. Needless to say I had to bite the bullet and take the loss. It also ended the friendship pretty quickly, I stopped playing for 3 years came back and I am better off then ever. I am kind of happy that It happened now that I looked at it I'm happier with my new accounts and I know I am the only one who ever had access to them.

Not my account, but I lost everything on it.

I was playing since the end of Beta through 2000, when I left to play Everquest. Mostly because everyone I had played with had moved onto another game or just quit UO for whatever reason. I gave my account/password to a friend, told him he was free to use the account, but please keep the houses, because I had 5 houses on that one account.

Fast forward to ~2005- I reconnected with someone I had originally met in UO and we got together (and eventually married) so I started playing again. The guy never changed my password, but all my houses and things were gone. The only things I had left were what the characters were wearing and few things in their bank. The resurrection scroll where I first GMed Inscription (first skill I ever GMed), original complete rangers suit, and my purple G'Splat statue. My silver katana of Vanquishing was now junk. :(

I was feeling pretty bad about the things I lost when I came back, but I see people lost a lot more then I did. I guess the purple sash of the royal guard was the one item I miss the most. Rebuilding the characters I had will take a very long time. I think that's ok though. Not like World Of Warcaft where I can make a level 85 in about a month.
