and Falon, here is a log i made while working my second carpenter, same method i used for my first as well ;-)
By making things that you can sell, if you are so inclined, you can average out about 1 gp per board used by the end of things
I train at Minoc, as there are armorers and blacksmiths there to buy all the items from you, really close to the bank, so not as much a hassle to truck around wood/items etc.
