Global Chat and an Unnamed Online Seller

This chat system will not work unless something is done to control the unnamed person this thread is talking about because all night & day spam about gold selling across your screen is not pleasant.

If disallowing Trial accounts from the chat is the answer then it must be done very soon if not immediately. As fast as people were paging and he was getting banned, he would have another one up and running in no time. Very annoying

Love the idea of Global Chat but just knew this would be just another way for people like this Unnamed Onliner Seller to spam sites/and wares like crazy.. there really needs to be a way to put these people on ignore..bad enough you get spammed with this stuff when going to Luna bank or see books with sites listed on it but now have to even deal with it being spammed on the screen. Also to top it off seems the leave chat option is now buggy and not working you have to basically go to another chate channel to get away from the spam.

i want a simple option. turn on and off. sometimes i want to play without screen messages being able to block my targeting at spawns and other stuff. nothing is more annoying that doing work and having containers get blocked by chat (I'd consider spam if i don';t know them). I like the quiet rooms but honestly - you know peeps wanting to be jerks will step in and say stuff to irritate folks.

You need an on and off switch. i would use it off and on to meet folks if it was that way. this should not be a forced add-on

You will be able to turn it on and off (log in and out at will) once the production shards receive the update. Currently our shards are not updated, but the clients are and there are quirks and oddities that we have to deal with until the update is completed on all shards.

I got a idea on how to bust this turkey!

If someone could PM his actual ip addy then I could link it to his service provider he's using.

Then one phone call to his internet service provider telling them he's using his service to harass people in Ultima Online. Volia! Service suspended! No more spamming jerk.

BTW, internet service providers her in the US do have "black lists" and communicate to each other people that have abused the priviledge on internet service.

I know about this stuff cause my sister had a net stalker back in 98-99 and we went through alot of stuff to get rid of the stalker.

I don't think that preventing trial accounts from speaking in global chat would keep subscribers away. WOW has that restriction and look at their population.

WOW has updated graphics a billion subscribers advertising with mr t even now.,Store shelf presence,About the same fee as UO and friends that keep pushing other friends to play with np. I don't think you can compare UO with WOW ever.

Weird thing. Only gold sellers have wars with gold sellers. I don't beleive any normal player even cares. They just ignore even if they can't ignore the conversation. Bank sitters sit so they hear things though I still don't see the point in paying money every month to hang around the bank 90% of the time doing nothing but oh well.

It won't help it if it helps at all. Remmeber these sites have money they can buy accounts over and over just with gold whiout even using cash. It sure wont change anything. They will consider it the cost of advertising. The advertising will generate income 10x the amount of times there paid accounts get banned.

I still feel that unless they are willing to hire someone to monitor this chat ... It's going to be one of the most highly abused things in the game.... nothing like adding a new dimention for scammers and spammers.....

While I see it's usefulness and it has been VERY useful since it's implimentation I can see the abuse of it ruining any good that can come of it.

There MUST be a way to stop this sort of thing.

simple solution. Have an ignore feature that can be turned on for "All Trial Accounts", let the end users have the option to block all TRIAL accounts or not. Second part of this, have a TRIAL accounts chat room that all TRIAL Accounts are stuck in until they are no longer a trial account.

Also give rights to the person creating a chat room to create a password, and make them the moderator as long as they are logged in. Chat Rooms disappear when the creator logs out and all people in the room log out of the room.
