Giving it all away

very soon i will be giving someone a few hundred mil, all my collections of the different suits, "none of which are complete".. like assasins suits and those type. my Luna house on baja, and my house on atl near umbra, and a ton of stuff collected over time, alltogether there is probably a little over a billion in stuff. I am quitting UO to go to WoW, where there is support and some sort of PvP that hasnt been totally gimped out..... they dont give you as many automated messages, and there is a ton of support agains exploits and a ton of ways to block hackers, and scammers.... only thing i dont know, is who i am giving it all to. I dont want to give itto someone who is allready wealthy, and i dont want to give it to someone brand new, because they will never learn to use it. I dont mind giving it to someone who sells it for in game wealth, just not for someone who will ebay it. and if one of the stratics people wants it to distribute in a fair, and just way, then i will consider that, as long as it isnt just to their friends or guild mates.... I thought about forming a scavenger hunt for the final prize, but i dont have the patience to set that up, i also would love to know what happens with it when it is all said and done...

i guess my perfect person to give it to would find a way to Use it, to improve their gaming experience, without burning them out on allready having what all they need....

*added* I would also love it if this were to go to improve someones life in FEL......... to liven things up there. That is where I feel this game origionated, and it has the closest ruleset i can relate to.

Well, I've had two separate stints in WoW, both of them lasted for about that long. It's fun, but after about a years' worth of time, it just starts being the same thing over and over again with a very small amount of variation to work with when you get bored of doing a particular thing.

However, since you are going, in terms of income for the game, I'll give you one piece of advice... resource gathering (particularly Herbalism and Mining) is the absolute BEST way to go. Forget actual crafting, just resource farm and play the auction house... you can't lose.

Still though, it was fun for me... for about a year each time.

I'm trying to start to get into PvP, on Great Lakes, don't have near enough money for the 120 scrolls I need on my mage and I have about 500k in insurance. :/ Have about 1.5 mil in gold on my account and have a few good PvM items, but that's about it.

Do UO a favor. Sell all your good stuff and keep all the gold on your account. Take it out of the game with you. And if the game ever makes a switch to something better for you, you'll have it on your return.
(Of course, it may not be worth much in a year or two. heh)

Cause you need 120 scrolls and arti gear.

Back in the old days you could pvp , weither you were rich or poor...everyone could pvp.
It required skill instead of gear and hax.

Nows it's only a rumour...but it could be true.

So now is the time to get some decent gear...and then just cross your fingers and hope none of it is duped gear.

To the OP, we could all use more money and shinies, so if you have a character with hiding/stealth, just start walking around dropping stuff, but don't just do it at Luna bank, have some fun on your way out...

I know exactly how you feel.

While I am not headed back to WoW (been there done that) I have been getting rid of most my stuff so that I can shove everything into my bank boxes before I close my accounts.

Every system of this game is over run with cheaters. I sometimes feel like I'm one of the only legit players left. Especially in PvP where I'd dare to wager 80% of the players are running some speed program combined with auto heal scripts and pot chugging scripts.

Personally I'm pretty much done with online gaming. I rarely ever play anymore since I'd much rather hang out with my family and do things in life that actually matter.

i have left UO three or four times, mostly angry over scams or lack of response when i needed assistance, that sort of the thing. The depth of immersion in UO is exceptional, if one chooses to exercise it. I have
played probably six or eight other games, including WOW.....

you probably guessed the rest of this......... don't get rid of everything quite yet..... give yourself six months or a year and see what happens.
by then, you will know whether or not WOW bores you after a while, as it does many people......

shame there isn't some way you could take all that wealth and put a little life back in fel..... it is so needed.

If you have any seer/event items on Atlantic, as well as any player/seer/em-written books, I always like displaying shard and cross-shard history. If you don't give them to me, then I'd recommend giving them to Halister Marner, as I believe he has a library of old books, and he has been trying to save some old Atlantic seer items lately, as well.

And, of course, I certainly wouldn't object to donations of gold and other shiny things. =P

Yah I used to be really anti-Siege...but then about a week ago I finally started a character there....Went on my Guild on Chessy's forums and told them I was gonna be there until I get this character worked up and afterward it would be hit and miss with me on Chessy......Have to say it brings back a lot of good memories of years gone by seeing crafters have a use and thieves around every corner.

Agreed... i truly love some of the items i have, not because of gold value, but rather because of the memories. The nature of the game has changed, one has little chance now of acquiring unique items, as there are none being made right now..... so one cannot begin anew.

Perhaps 'tis time to destroy the old towns that are almost never used....... let them decay as the inn in Delucia and the Pub in Rivendell........... perhaps someone who is aware of the histories of our cities could put up historical markers.... i.e., "Once a great museum was located here, (i am thinking of that fantastic museum that was on ice island).. A monument to those killed when the Orcs invaded cove, maybe?

i love to play siege and have a char there, but the only problem is no house
i have a house and chars on my main shard and i had a pvp guy in factions before aos but since i dont now because i dont have enough to buy all the expensive stuff i need.

they should make you be able to have a house on a main shard and siege at the same time.
this would let alot of pvp people have a pvp guy on siege.

I agree with what Trebr said.... Though you may want to find a guild that helps newbs in NewHaven or something. Keep the gold on your account give away the houses and all to those in need.... pack up what you like and shut down the accounts....

As for me I am on Great Lakes.... I do try to help newbs out... I also spend time in my local RP community... I don't Sell anything... If I don't use it or give it away I throw it away because it's garbage...

But honestly I don't need more stuff. So..... keep the gold lose the stuff. Good luck.

I play Baja and have exclusively since after Sonoma came out.....back since the old classic guilds like LoD and GoV. And I'm not quitting UO until they shut down the servers because this game still has the most potential of any MMO out right now or even in development. I have a site coming out soon that will deal with solving the issues UO is facing and the discussion of these ideas and I'm unusually optimistic about the game's chances.

So all that to say, don't give away ALL your stuff cause you may be back. I don't need anything in the game......I have my perfect suit and a nice little house in moonglow and plenty of gold and not much else to buy. But if you want somebody who, for sure, won't unload the house or will even hold it for you, let me know....we have enough flaky Luna houses as it is.
