Give 2H weapons some love...

My proposal?

Add an extra tile to the range a character can hit, but limit that one tile to the tiles in front of the character. (this wouldn't apply to archery at all... because of the ranged attack and [balanced] property)

Example:

XXX
X>XX
XXX

So if your character is facing east as in my example, you can hit an opponent standing east of you one extra tile away. If your character is facing south... you can hit a character south of you one extra tile away. Otherwise, you need to be next to that player in order to hit. The idea is, is that the direction your character faces and the type of weapon he/she is using is how you can obtain the bonus.

This would add an element of skill to utilizing this bonus, it would give 2 handed weapons an advantage over 1 handed... especially against fellow dexers and chasing down an opponent.

I never understood why a spear had the same range of attack as a dagger...

Drax's idea is the best so far. My thoughts on this matter have nothing to do with archery. I believe archery should stay where it is but all other 2 handed weapons need some love. I am not a big fan of increasing the damage cap to AI and lightnin strike. Those two are the only things capped at 35. My thoughts would be to cut the amount of mana used for specials by a 2 handed in half, and increase the base damage of all 2 handers (cept archery) by 5 points. This would make them more desirable for people to use.

If, this every came to be I would drop archery and break out the long spear!!

I also think lances should be able to dismount from horse back again, but not 100% of the time, in example:

-You hit your target, but they maintain their balance

-You hit your target, and they are slowed by the attack(mount moves at walking speed for 5 seconds)

-Your target is dismounted

You can't choose the outcome, but it is random, say 50% chance they stay, 30% chance they slow, 20% fully dismounted.

Dude, the problem is in your thinking, instead of the amount of times you strike worry about the dameg output (save the ability to disrupt)

What I am saying is that any good mage know that your max hit is 35, so they just time their heals/mini heals and cast alot more spells.

My point is that if I had a 2h wep, and a chance at a 60 point shot, the mage might reconsider he casting, he might cast a few more heals.

IMHO alot of the fun of pvp was taken out when the damage cap came in.

You can watch a good mage fight and they will let their bar go down 2/3 because they know they cannot die.

Here is where 2h weps should come in, slower yes but they should offer the possibility of huge damage.

I hate to go back in time as todays UO is all we have, but I do remember mages casting differently (no im not talking about dagger 5/6). When they knew that a 60 point shot could be comming at any moment, to me that randomness added alot to pvp...

We all remember the "drive by" kill with a war hammer!!

Ok i'm going to attempt to get my point across without any smart remarks or sarcasm. I of all people (Darkness) know about the big hit, I lived for a long time for the 1 shot kill and lived pretty well during that era and i rarely missed, but now I would get owned running around with that big slow axe...and just so everyone know when Darkness owned with the Axe of the heavens he only ran with 35 dex 120 str and 100 int. But what I'm saying is if a mage in decked out gear like drax said he runs with 70% dci..that means regarless of the damage youre gonna miss him more then you're gonna hit him...and if you're wielding a slower 2 handed weapon he would be fully healed and rebuffed before you can hit him again. Hell I am the worst on the shard at playing a mage and even I could drop a dexxer that only hit me once every 15-20 seconds.

All I'm saying is I don't want to see everyone running around with 2 handed weapons because ea buff the damage cuz all it will do is make mages even more godly than they are now. You guys dont see the ridiculousness in mages running around with parry and 70% dci? This is the result of the 2 biggest problems on siege imo...(1)bushido and (2)faction arties.

My point is a few years ago dex was way overrated and you really didnt need high dex, those who knew this lil dirty secret owned the shard, but now without dex againt a parry mage you may as well dump all the loot onto the ground and run for the hills.

A few facts Cheapy.

1. My 70% DCI suit I've described is non-faction and doesn't have a single tok or cursed arty involved.

2. 45% DCI is the cap. 70% DCI is to negate the -25% to DCI, Hit Lower Defense causes.

3. 45% DCI versus 45% HCI means you have a 50/50 chance of hitting me. Not the "I will miss more than I hit" BS that you claim.

4. Swing Speed Increase and Use Best Weapon Skill has really screwed with weapons. Being able to hit at 1.25 seconds with a weapon not even tied to your current skill set is ridiculous... (disrupts and special moves being considered.)

5. A mage has no chance in out damaging the healing capabilities of a 4/6 chiv dexer.

6. You're never ending pancake fest regarding faction artifacts is annoying and total BS. Those of us running the faction artifacts have been running suits just like these since before these faction items ever even came about. Hell, sakie and Nym were both using - mage 1 handers before these faction items even came about. Now that more than the best PvPer and the super rich can enjoy them... it's somehow a problem? Sorry... but no.

7. You don't grasp a lot of concepts in PvP because you play a naked gimp character. You don't even know how to utilize your own character to its potential. Stop coming to this board and complaining about how everything but YOU is the problem.

8. Your BS about dex and what not is just that... BS. The amount dex matters has always depended on the template and weapon your using... not a time period in UO.

9. Darkness was a joke. A naked guy who died a billion times more than he killed... but considers himself great because he never lost much of anything, but got to loot lots. Clever... yes. Admirable... no.

Well you see for one Darkness never ran naked and for two you first complain about ssi on weapons then the very next sentence you say swing speed has nothing to do with anything. Which is it? What I know about Uo a few years back I don;t expect you to know...you can think what you want but the truth is you really never jnew much until "pvp" as you call it became about riches and super items.

Only thing I cant figure out is you always talking about how faction arties are not as great as the suits you used to wear, well if this is true why not go back to your old suits and give the faction items a rest?

Yeah I can be annoying at times and for that I pat myself on the baxk, but whats even more annoying than Darkness board pvp is some blue guard hugging wannabe acting like he's been a force since the opening of siege when you and I both knw that isnt the case.

You and everyone hear know damn well that the so called best pvpers should definitely not be blue. The end.

And I'll tell you why Darkness raely died...its because he hit very hard which makes a good defense on its own...u know the saying...a good offense..... and the fact that he had 2 sources of healing... anatomy/healing (aids) plus Spirit Speak.

So you guy's are saying faction artie's is same as non faction item's , howcome i don't see 4 outta 6 piece's of your suit being non faction artie's?I.e 4 outta 6 peice's being tok major's /doom artie's /community item's and how can you run gimplate's with no good healing method, or 60 med and still be able to own without faction arties.

If faction item's are on par with non faction item's then no need for the extra resost/ mod's then right? why have extra mod's .resist if so? i mean they are already easy enough to get, then even if you die you can buy it back with easily gotten gold.

You wasn't even playing SP when he played darkness so how in the hell would you know?I never saw your face once on SP till 2005.You realize that was 6 years after SP was out right?Not too mention 3 years after AOS...so why did it take you 6 years to come to SP, one more time?(since EVERYONE knew in 1999 it was gonna be the big boy shard?)

The one thing i do notice is, when forsaken is around your around and when forsaken is not your not...ya alot of people love your style the only thing is...is it yours or forsaken's?
