Getting to Knight of Honor Virtue : most effective template/monster ?

I have been reading various posts about getting points to get to Knight of Honor (Virtue) but so far, I could not come up with a decisive template and target monster that were the absolute best in making it to Knight the fastest.

Definately, being a tamer is not an option as it looks extremely slow to gain points in Honor through a pet.

It looks that Melee is quite effective but I am still unsure of what template and combination of skills/gear/weapom/target monster would just help the most.

Also, I am trying to figure out a template in melee skills that does not need Legendary fighting/related skills and for which at GM or 110 at most would be sufficient and still guarantee sound gains in Honor.

Something that a new player or returning player without much gold to spend (120 Swords/Fencing/Mace and Tactics/Anatomy/Healing could be quite costly...) could still effectively use to make it to Knight of Honor in a reasonable time.

Anyone knows ?

Thanks.

Search in the Tamer and Warrior Forums for similar threads - use the search function, it can be your friend.

Tamers are NOT slow to gain points in Honor - it's the easiest character for me to reach Knight of Honor. Use one of the many melee templates, Sampire or Paladin, and attack high Fame/Karma creatures. Use the best gear you can get that you can afford - it doesn't affect how much honor you gain. Sooner or later you'll have to actually play to find out what works for you.

I did search and quite extensively but the info found is often confusing.

Some even say that trying to gain Honor as a tamer stops at 4 dots as a Follower of the Virtue....

Some suggest Succubi, some Trasher, some say Balrons do help, and on and on.

It does get quite confusing.

Besides, most advice assumes templates all maxed out with great, expensive gear and weaponry and so forth.

As I said, I am trying to find the best balance that would fit new/returning players who still cannot afford neither the best scrolls nor the best gear and yet, would like not to spend countless days trying to make it to Knight of Honor.

Basically, I am trying to figure out what would be the most effective set up for a player in the range of GM or at most 110 melee skills and with reasonable, affordable gear and weaponry.

Could such a new/returning player still fight targets like Succubi, Trasher, Balrons etc so as to gain Honor points at a good rate ?

popps, all you seem to do around here is ask questions about what is easiest for new players. I just have to ask, are you actually assisting new players with this information? If so, great. Otherwise I really don't see why you're constantly asking questions like this.

Popps do you think another thread on this here in Uhall is going to clear up any confusion? I think not.

Reality is any template that can kill balrons can become a knight of honor. Does that mean you have to kill balrons? No. But, it is a good benchmark of the template's abilities.

To throw in something helpful:

I find it easiest to kill Thrasher in Fel with some kind of melee char that has a half decent armor and a reptile slayer.

simple look at the first linked post -

in there is a list of high monster that give the most fame the list was derived from the stratcs hunters guide.

simply do an advanced search and sort by fame / karma gains for the monsters.

now look at that list and figure out what you can kill according to the template you are going to use.

I know this could be hard soooooooo -

Red Death
Dark Father
Abyssmal Horror
The True Harrower
The Harrower
Shadow Knight
Black Order High Executioner
Succubus
Semidar
Impaler
Forgotten Servant
Balron
Putrid Undead Gargoyle
Maddening Horror
Flesh Renderer
Ancient Lich
Skeletal Drake
Skeletal Dragon
Shadow Wyrm
Rikktor
Neira the Necromancer
Mephitis
Lord Oaks
Barracoon the Piper
Ancient Wyrm
Thrasher
Yamandon
Hydra
Greater Dragon
Darknight Creeper
Virulent
Spite
Miasma
Malefic
Guile
Wanderer of the Void
Silvani
Reptalon
Fire Steed
Cu Sidhe
Bone Daemon
Silk
Sentinel Spider
Lady Sabrix
Lady Lissith
Greater Poison Elemental
Sir Patrick
Master Mikael
Master Jonath
Lady Marai
Lady Jennifyr
White Wyrm
Swoop
Meer Eternal
Lich Lord
Ice Fiend
Hiryu
Exodus Minion
Crystal Lattice Seeker
Bane Dragon
Gnaw

That is the TOP 61 honor givers as a simple 110 Chiv Sword (Weapon) Anat Tact Heal with parry or resist i would pro top ou at say - Thrasher?

Take some time LOOK at your template figure out what you can kill and look at the list

I hope this answers your question. really there should ne NO more posts about honor!!!!

And a tamer can get to Knight and we ALL konw this - again LOOK at the list kil what you can.

Toughest thing on the list above (starting at the top) that spawns in Fel would be the best option - assuming you can solo it.

Have been killing dozens of succubi and Balrons in the dojo, and not a single dot over 4, so don't know whats wrong with it.

Petra... how about a guide on how to do a search/advance search? Of course, someone would have to explain how to search for the guide.

just kill the balrons/succubi/onis in the dojo if playing it safe. otherwise, kill succubi/balrons in fel, or the named ML monsters in fel ML dungeons.

honor does have a few requirements, namely staying close to the monster, and not using pets/summons, etc. gains faster when following honor, but still gains without.

knight of honor is overrated unless you're wanting the paperdoll color. for how much effort it is to fill the last couple bubbles it's not worth embracing honor over.

Easiest template: Sampire
Monsters to kill: Thrasher, succubi, Miasma, Balrons

Going over 4 dots of follower as a tamer involves knowing the process of gaining honor.

This isn't completely true. It may affect how much you gain (we really don't know), but you still gain with each of these and can max out Honor doing each of these things people say you cant. We can't see the Honor points, but you still get the "you gain Honor" message. Try it if you don't believe that.

You do not have to stay close, just close for the hits when using an archer.
You can break line of sight - seems to have no affect at all.
You can gain honor with pets/summons.
You do not have to let the target hit you first.

As mentioned this has been discussed over and over again.. Tamers are not slow to gain honor, you just need to do it the right way. The fastest method is to find a level 5 fame/karma creature like a succubus and use a trained pet which attacks its weak resistances, such as a cu sidhe. Cu sidhe attack cold 50%, and succ are cold vuln. So Mind Blast will also be useful. Read the rules on honor and follow them as much as you can. I did it using the EC and a special macro which targeted, used honor, and sicked my pet.

That is the best 'grind' method I have found. Now if you want to do it some other way, for fun, or exploration, or roleplay, your experience and time to complete your goal may vary. You have not posted what you tried, only that it isn't working for you. If you elaborated, people could probably help fine tune what you're trying.

Popps doesn't actually play UO. Popps isn't even a real person. Popps is a Forum Bot that posts random (and often conflicting) messages.
