Gargoyles and Mounts...

Gargoyles need to be able to fly with a mount, like a small mount they could squeeze between their legs and then fly with them. So, that the gargoyle could have a type blue beatle or fire beatle.

Also the Volems should fly when a gargoyle flies and when the gargoyle lands the volems should land with them. I think that would add a cool affect if the gargoyle had a few flying companions of different types that would fly along with it.

I think you give up to much as a gargoyle if it's going to be a crafter. I would rather stay human, simply because of the beatles.

Gargoyles have a bonus to imbuing for being a crafter.

IMO, they definitely don't need rideables. Gargoyles are very powerful, and this is also one of the things that makes them unique.

Well i'm not sure if that would make the gargoyle any more powerful. It would just put them in the same league as the human.

For example: When the gargoyle begins to fly, there speed is not increased and when they land on this mount it could be the same speed as when they walk. That's the beauty of a new spawn.

You could even make it so that when they fly with a mount between their legs, they fly slower. To me, giving up a portable forge and a protected packy is a huge disadvantage for a crafter.

I don't see gargoyles as being superior because you have imbue caps. So, as a human I can create the same item as a gargoyle. So, they don't have more of a benefit. As far as I know, they have a better success chance but if you have 120 skill, what is that variation? Alot of times I will create the item right away.

I don't even bother going to the Queen's Forge, i'm just a human in my house imbuing. So, to me, that's not a big deal.

Oh it definitely makes them more powerful.

Gargoyle riding a dreadmare. Gargoyle hops off and attacks with it. Gargoyle proceeds to flight almost instantly (the gargoyle flight is a quick animation).

Gargoyles also have better base resists on armor, a higher HCI cap, etc. In addition for tamers, gargoyles can flight while controlling a greater dragon, other races can't. This MORE than makes up for not being able to ride a mount.

It's quite simple.

If you are a crafter and wish to use a mount you don't use a Gargoyle.

Gargoyles were SPECIFICALLY & logically created without the ability to ride a mount and there are dozens of other good reasons why they should not be able to ride a mount(some mentioned by Tinsil in this same post)

No offense but this post is so ludicrous it should be in Spiels & Rants.

The OP can have what he desires just by playing his same crafter on another race but that isnt good enough for him? The few times he has a crafting need better served by a Gargoyle he can't rough it temporarily without a beetle? Are you kidding me?

How about we all let the Dev's work on issues that don't already have a perfectly good and logical solution?

My solution was to put all the crafting skills on my gargoyle and my resource gathering (lumberjacking & mining) on a human. I through a few extra craftin skills on the human, like alchy and carpentry since they dont require the armslore. I find this works great. I get the success chance bonus for my imbuing and get the resource bonus for my mining... and I can ride a pet for gathering resources. Unless your using a bunch of soulstones you can't get all the crafting skills on a single toon anyway.

I'm going to go off the assumption OP is more interested in PVM/Tram.. in which case I can see why you'd want the beetle bud, but adding in rideable mounts for gargoyles just doesn't fit, and if you do it, it messes with other areas of the game.

Well I don't know how we got off track. I stated, a crafter and compared a human and gargoyle and gave a list of 2 particular mounts, a pack beatle and a fire beatle.

We're not talking about mares or rideable greater dragons.

So, there is no way that I could see a gargoyle owning a fire beatle or a blue pack beatle, would make them any more powerful, especially considering the fact that they can already own them.

The difference is, the human can mount the animals which protects them, giving the human more of an advantage to collect resources, whether he's mining in the middle of a Fel Champ Spawn does not matter.

The reason why I posted this is simple, my crafter will not become a gargoyle simply because of the advantages that he gets as a human character as far as a blue beatle pack and a portable fire beatle forge.

Don't have to then. Gargoyles don't need and shouldn't be able to ride mounts. =/

I would be all for a gargoyle familiar that flys and gives some small bonus. Maybe even that it needs be summons for the imbueing bonus. One that flys the same a a garg does. Just kind of eye candy and gives the impression that someday we might get pets that really do fly and keep up. But no I dont think squeezing between the thighs is kool unless its my girlfreind! Kind a gross otherwise.

Your flight form means your moving at mounted speed.

Simple solution is bond your pets and get yourself some pet summon balls.

If your worried about them being killed train them up and most spawning monsters wont have a chance against them.

A Gargoyle would easily be able to fly down and pick you up with its' large, strong legs or talons and pick you up with ease. I could even see a movie in the future, with these things flying down, picking up cars and throwing them.

But in UO, the graphic would look funny or probably not work because the height of the graphic would be to much. So, if you were going to do it at all, you would have to put it between its' legs. So, you can picture the Gargoyles heels clinching the side of the animal. It would also have to be really small. Something like this could be a tool as well.

So, it would be more something the Gargoyle carries, like you would imagine a human pushing a cart with wheels but a Gargoyle would probably pick it up and fly with it.

I guess it's just a matter of time before we see Companions for Gargoyles. Like humans walk, we have dogs that walk or cats that walk, so you would think if you were a Gargoyle with wings, you would have a pet that would fly, plus it would look really cool.
