Does Bushido/Parry work with a thrower? Since Parry is supposed to get rid of the defense penalty of using a shield...anyone know?

Gargoyle with Bushido/Parry?

Theoretically such a character sounds like a viable weapon-based anti-archer(range plus parrying and evasion).. Not sure if it would fare better than your typical mage with parrying against archers though, as those offer a lot more options I would think. But why not jump on TC and check it out?

Don'y you lose all defensive bonuses when using a shield while having bushido?
Isn't the blocking bonus along these lines:
100 Parry, 100Bushido, 2-handed weapon = ~30% to block
100 Parry, 100Bushido, 1-handed weapon & no shield = ~ 15% to block
100 Parry, 100Bushido, 1-handed weapon & a shield = ~ 0 to 5% to block
A thrower with Parry/Bushido while using a shield would seem to mirror the 3rd option.

I am testing that theory as we speak, but I have no results for you as of yet.
I do have a many questions... such as..
2 handed weapons. Parry has Higher chance to block but gargoyle throwers can't use 2 handed. All throwing weapons are 1 handed. Obviously can't use 2 handed bow, imbued UBWS onto a gargish axe, but when trying to use special moves (currently 119 throw 115 tactics) I get the proverbial error.. "you need 90 weps and tactics skill to perform that attack ~ dismount"
So is this part of the screwing of gargoyle race/throwing fiasco? I can carry a 2 handed garg weapon to block but I can't use it for offense?
In that case parry with a shield is the only way to go.. since I at least do get benefit of the mods.. and the Sign of Chaos Garg shield is pretty sweet (Soul Charge 20, HCI 5 DCI 10 FC 1 Resists 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2

I want to be able to use a one handed throwing wep without a shield. Using a shield with bushido is pointless. Any news on your test results would be nice. Just need a confirm if I can actually block attacks this way.
You can't block with a throwing weapon. I tried it on test. 120 parry/bushi only and had someone attack me 10 times with max HCI. I parried 0/10 times. If it would have worked I would have at least parried 3/10.
It doesn't fully get rid of the penalty either :/. I forget where the calculation was for it, but I remember you'd still get around a -26 HCI/ -21 DCI with 120 parry while wearing a shield. It's not really worth the hassle of over buffing yourself on HCI/DCI to balance out.
Can you imagine trying to overbuff that much dci on a gargoyle?

So a whole suite of skills are still worthless to gargs? Throwing/Bush/Parry?
Drop Bush but you lose perfection, lightning, momentum, confidence..
Drop parry? Seems a better choice. No 2 handed throwing weps anyway. Need dexer skills to use the wep. Ability to use shield.
Pick up another skill? Resist? Chiv? Poison? Anyone know if you can even poison a throwing wep?

You can't, and get med/resists.
