Forensic Evaluation skill : is it good for anything at all ?

I noticed that the Forensic Evaluation skill is not even within the Stratics' General or Advanced skill sections.

The UO Scout Profession Forum has a little information about this skill but overall, it is not clear whether this skill may or not have any good sides to it, perhaps not well known.

So, question is, is the Forensic Evaluation skill good for anything at all ?

Um.... a cool title so long as you keep all your skills at GM.

Otherwise... no it's not good for anything really.

Unless you are very curious about who killed who.... and who picked what lock... but outside of that it don't tell you squat...

Should say so and so looted this, this and that.... from the corpse, killed by so and so... at this time...

So and so unlocked this chest and took this, this and this at this time...

So and so was killed by a flamestrike... at this time by the murderous so and so... (denoting it was a red)

So and so was brought to justice by so and so... at this time with a bolt from a crossbow...

Could be more interesting.... but it isn't...

Might even be interesting if you could forensic a weapon or something and it might tell you "This weapon was crafted by so and so, traded to so and so, then stolen by so and so and placed on ______ vendor for X amount of gold.

"Weapon crafted with Copper runic hammer by so and so, sold on ____ vendor to so and so for X amount of gold, dropped at Luna Bank picked up by so and so and placed on ______ vendor for X amount of gold.

Or this weapon was last used to kill so and so....

This armor was stolen by so and so...

This powerscroll was obtained by so and so at such and such champ spawn...

I think the skill is golden opportunity sitting there waiting to be the centerpiece of a Clue-like puzzle minigame, allowing you to gather clues to unlock a murder mystery.

It could also be used as a booster skill for gaining special reagents more often from creatures (although I have to admit that for all I know it could do that already ... I can't say I've been poking around with it a lot in the new expansion - I did try the corpses of the lost miners in the Underworld and was a little disappointed it didn't do anything special).

I'd like to see it used for more practical uses.

-Use it on a piece of ore to figure out who mined it.
-Use it on some discarded logs to figure out who cut them.
-Use it on a renamed animal to figure out who tamed it last.
-Use it on a door to figure out who opened it last.
-Use it on a chest to figure out who looked inside it last.
-Use it on a book to see who altered it last / alteration history.

Add information, such as how long ago that day and how many times that week.

Some of those in the rp community use it in the very rare cases regarding the looting of other rpers. Doesn't happen very often, but when it does it is great to be able to know who exactly disturbed the body.

...their current coordinates, what they're carrying, whether it's insured...am I on the right track? lol

It currently tells if someone is in the thief guild... Id like to see it used to take peoples disguises off though then it would be useful to find out who that pesky thief actually is.
