For those of you getting trojans from stratics..

I would recommend using Mozilla Firefox, there is a couple of addons you can download from the firefox site that are quick and easy to install.. These programs would block out all banners and ads for you, I dont even see the ads on stratics anymore.

Use Ad-Block Plus, No Script and Remove it Permanently.. These are great addons for firefox and I highly recommend them. We had this same issue on the World of Warcraft forums recently(not stratics.) It is something going around that hackers have been doing.. Keep yourself protected!

To the best of my knowledge no one has gotten a trojan, one person has had an alert. We are looking into it, in the meantime Norton safeweb gives an 'all clear'

2 people have. I reported my Trend Micro also gave a virus/trojan warning.

i am running fire fox I have not used explorer in years problem was i had it turned off last night and forgot to turn the blocker back on! not having problem now but still the issue should be addressed unless you can talk everyone into firefox ;-)

Are you able to help identify where it's coming from? It's got to be one of the adverts, since I quite definitely haven't been putting trojans on the site. I was kind of hoping Norton safeweb would help with that, but apparently not.

I've virus checked my pc twice (avg) and searched my pc for the b.exe file that was mentioned in the other thread with no result. I obviously visit that page a lot, but I have firefox. I've sent out an email for help.

I don't know about the rest, but I can't stand firefox, and frankly I shouldn't have to install a new browser to read Stratics. If that ever becomes a necessity Stratics will lose my multitude of daily page views as I'll stop coming here completely.

Hmm... At one point I had all three computers looking for this. I used IE. I used this account (kelmo) and two comps not logged in. I used XP and Vista.

All of my comps update Micro Trend daily.

I did a scan on the one that needed it.

Nothing...

I hit refresh well over a hundred times. Man! There are a lot of free games out there. The MMO soccer game cracked me up.

I do not see the Trojan...

I must mention I checked from work a time or two today as well. It uses one of the archaic virus protection programs. Norton I think. Nothing there either.

I can't find it. My protection is set at levels I am comfortable with. Nothing on Stratics trips my trigger.

This has happened before... Some advertisment is a bit aggresive. Generally harmless. It is probably just a mean cookie.

It helps you permanently remove items from context menus.. So like, If I don't want to see the background of stratics, I can remove it and it will just be a blank white background..

I ran a full system scan last night Kelmo. Nothing was found by any of my programs. I did get hit again this morning and noticed that the virus was going into my temporary files, then being quarantined by my antivirus. Strangely enough, it was the LoTR ad once again at the top of the page on Stratics main. I've now closed my browser, opened it back up, and gone back to the Stratics main site, and have not been hit with the warning from any other banner ad, only the LoTR one.

reinstalled the Adblock Plus from Mozzilla
no more adverts on stratics and virus is gone
