Awhile ago someone was asking for information on the Trinsic invasion with Juo'nar. So here are the pics

Hey! When was that? That matches what I wandered into back in my original short-lived pre-Tram trial.

Was a looooong time ago Maplestone, in a different life and different world.
A good adventure, Jou'nar was awesome, and the undead that ruled Trinsic for a short while gave us some new varmints to hunt ;)
Wish I had a copy of that book!

I had someone donate abuncha player written books to paxoku and some event books and I was skimming them and that book just took me back. I remember running up with my Swordsman Orin and say "I will cut you down to size" then got smacked by Ju once and fell to a grey screen hehe.

Once I came across it I also remember someone asking for the information from that time period thought this might help them.

You guys remember when Chesapeake killed Juo'nar, and they had to reset the server because he wasn't supposed to die yet? *snorts* I was there for that battle.

Hey Gareth, what're the odds I could get a copy of that? I'd LOVE to have it for my personal collection. I remember those battles very, very well. The invasions were very reminiscent of that. brought back great memories and huge collections of death robes. And NO INSURANCE.

I was just passing through and saw this.

Thought I'd post this link. Lots of info there related to old UO, including some about the Trinsic invasion, for anyone interested. While I've long since quit UO due to the changes away from that marvelous world, I can't make myself delete it. UO was always my fondest gaming memory, by far. I still miss it.

Ahh, Armorless Mages, Iron Heavy Archer suits(w/ closed helmets), and only 50% of the players were mounted(on regular horses). I think I'm having an acid flashback.

Ack, this is making me mad that I lost Jou'nar's Wispering Rose again.

That was my favorite invasion, with the first Brit invasion close behind. Good times, lots of dying, seemed everyone worked together on it, no one yelling "drag it into the city to blow up the building for rubble, you IDIOT!"

That invasion is, and likely always will be, my favorite MMO memory. On Catskills, the Guild I'm in (PGoH) operated strictly out of Trinsic at that time (Although now I'm usually the only one there.. we have our own "city" north of it). Needless to say, what we did as a guild because it was "our" city, and the way we all got into playing the part made it all the memorable.

It's probably the main reason I've had a less favorable opinion of the game since AoS. There were different levels of items, true, but at that time, just about everyone was limited to GM at best, or maybe a little better. The armor you chose had more consequences than being medible. the weapons you chose told others what kind of skills you likely had, and while people wanted better items and rares, it wasn't an obsession. What mattered was what you did, how you played, and how you played with others in those brief moments between the time you signed on and the time you went gray.

I'll go to my grave remembering that invasion.

There was a really famous PKer on Chessy,(for the life of me I cant remember his name) that ended up dying and going into stat loss after he lost connection.

He was fighting me and a friend SilverAce, that were in FoS guild, when he lost conn. I actually stopped attacking him, but my friend went ahead and killed him anyway, looted him and handed in his head for the bounty. He had a decent Vanq Halbred on him to boot.

Felt bad for the PKer, but over all it was good times

I didn't get to participate in this one.

I did, however, get to die from Undead just walking nearby Trinsic, because spawn had spilled out of the city!

*chuckles*

Makes me shake my head when I hear players complain when they recall directly into invaded cities and die.

I was a newbie trying to play a simple non-combatant fisherman (and having a horrible time of it because normally the moment I went near any town I'd be PKed and/or robbed dry). Trinsic was the only city I could find where I could just relax and play and get my 1gp per fish. But then the sun went down and I discovered why it was empty. Eventually I ran out of money in the bank ... when I couldn't afford to buy a replacement fishing rod any more, I had to call it quits for that character.
