Flashback to the 90s

I was thinking about giving UO a go again but the last time I played would have been 1999 (I think)...

Would the characters still exist?

My account is still around (I have checked) but if I re-upped my sub what should I expect so see? nothing?

Anyone? Thoughts?

I believe your characters will still be there with their skills/items etc, Can't confirm that but I would be surprised if it had been deleted over time.

Is this my EA account or UO Account? I can login to the edit sub for UO account ... but for some reason MYUO can't confirm my account.

I "believe" that MyUO will only show characters that have been logged in in the past 30 days or something like that.

Should I install one of my old versions or download the upgrade new version (is it a full install?)

I guess I will go ahead and re-sub ... worst case scenario ... all my stuff is gone and I am out $12.

Any old CD will install both 2d and old 3d, Then patch both them up to disable 3d. So you are FAR better off downloading the 2d client again and using that.

MyUO uses a different Username and password then your actual uo account.

And yes when using MyUO you can only see char that were logged in in the last 30 days.

However if you still have access to old account username, password and email, then all your char and items in their packs and banks should be there still.

I am not so sure the 'stuff' you had back then would be of much value. So if your stuff is gone, it may not be that big of a setback.

Now if the characters are gone, that might require a bit of training to get them back to where they were, though not everyone enjoys training.

If you end up not continuing to play, then you are right, it's only $12.

If you just want to 'see' what UO is currently like, then you might want to try a 14-day free trial first. If the game itself doesn't appeal to you, then that would be $0 wasted.

But alot of that "stuff" from way, way back is considered rare now since alot of it doesn't spawn any longer. Or has that changed recently? I'm speaking from past experience, and been away myself for almost 2 years now.

Not sure where people hang about on GL, But assuming you checked Britain Bank in Trammel, Did you also check Luna bank in Malas? Either one of those should be the 'hub' for players.

GL is very much alive! The devs thought it would be funny to have an invasion of brit years ago. The invasion lasted a long time. Everyone migrated to Luna (I hate that word). After the invasion everyone kinda stayed in Luna since they were so used to going their during the invasion. With the new general chats and help chats etc you see more of the spam you remmber in those chats in the journal than in town.

GL is the best shard and we are glad to have you back!

Frankly, uo isnt good as it used to be. Too much changed and the UO feeling is gone, but if you like WoW for an example you might enjoy the game.
