I see what you are saying. But dont forget that some splintering weaps do sell for quite some gold despite having hit area effects (check for example Soulweaver's kryss a couple of threads below that is currently at 175 m)

And dont forget the splintering weapons on this list are sold at bargain prices.

My primary Atl account has an Mule, an Luck Farmer, and five reds. My secondary Atl has only two reds, however I am well aware of the dangers of being an agro to everyone. My primary and secondary account also hold between 1-3 reds on every server excluding Mugen and Siege which my chars are also reds. , and I still* hold the same opinion.

Area spells are a huge .
(They break prime combo hits [townies], and prime combo reactive para [mages] dumps, etc).

Overall, Hit area in pvp is trash.

Each to their own i guess doesnt really bother me too much i know as a red your targeted pretty much straight away only downside i guess is you dmg your guild mates if they are close

Not your guild mates, they take zero area damage, however you will damage mutual field mates, and also cause additional agro. When group fights come into place, its nice to be able to do 70-140damage combos knocking one target off of your list, however with area affect spells, your combos can be split into two targets, which can sometimes kill both targets, or allow both or one to live. I myself prefer a 90% kill rate of one target, than a 50% kill rate of two+ targets. Depending on your template, if your fighting outnumbered, even 2v1, this hit area and non hit area can mean the world of difference.
