I use a dual macro system for fishing in the EC.
1: Fishing pole in a hotbar slot, Target: Cursor
2: Built Macro: | Pole Target Cursor | Wait for Target | Target Cursor Last | Delay 8.0 | Pole Target Cursor | Wait for Target | Target Cursor Last | Delay 8.0 | (Set to repeat 10 times)
You can build the second macro to use the number of casts you desire. I also made sure I have an Equip macro for my Horselord Bow just in case a serpent is fished up.

I use a vollem as pet for my fisher. Set it to all guard me and you don't even have to stop fishing. Sea serpents or water ellies are no match for a vollem.
I take a blue beetle with me. And the beetle seems to be able to handle the serpents quite well over the years I've had him.
I then have the ability to move large amounts of crab and fish no matter where I fish.
Incidentally it's named "A Blue Whale". Which I find amusing.

i would imagine TargetByResource would work for fishing.
No, it does not. Nobody understands why and people keep asking the devs to include it. I started a petition in uhall, feel free to vote

I can't figure out how to set up a macro to use my fishing pole anymore.

Mine match Dermott's, plus I have one other which I use when the spot I'm fishing is depleted. 'say - slow forward' 'delay (8.0)' 'say - Furl Sail'
The macro seems to work well in a dungeon or on shore but from my boat it keeps telling me that I need water to fish in - I am in the middle of the ocean surrounded by water
Am I missing something?
