*orders OJ and scrambled eggs with cheese*
I was recently flamed (albeit mildly) for presuming to enter into a "long standing community"
and daring to voice my opinion.
Now I'm not new to either Stratics or Ultima, I've played Ultima since the late 70's
and started lurking here right around 2000. And, my skin is pretty thick and flames roll right off me now.
But what if I had been a "New" player or just a "new" poster on Stratics?
I thought the whole idea was to welcome people to this board and in turn encourage their interest in this game we all love or at least play.
Community start with us doesn't it? I mean we are the players right?
I would just like to use a recent event on my shard as an example:
Due to a misunderstanding on boat security popps lost a substantial amount of resources to a thief. So far 14 million gold has been pledged by other players to help popps ransom his stuff. No ransom demands have been made but still.. 14 million. Now that might not seem like a lot to some, but to me it shows real community spirit.
Personally I'm proud to see that kind of stuff happening on my shard.
