Last time I sold one on Cats was 30k But its not easy to get one and others might consider their time worth more for the hastle.

I can usually sell 'em as fast as I can get 'em, 50-60k, on LS.
they aren't really worth most tamer's time from what I hear.

Try the Magincia vendor stables. I picked up 3 for 25k each. I think there was one or two more there.

I can get them pretty easy with my peace tamer and some help from my nightmare.
25k-50k depending on the shard & the demand sounds decent & fair.

Though I got my first one for free way back when my tamer was not up to the task (thank you again Nine Dark Moons) so I have a hard time charging for them. I always feel like I need to pay it forward :)

untrained free-100k, fully trained priceless.... umm no idea on a fully trained one but would be nice to have one maxed out.

Ah! and oneday at some time in the future ...

he will come to you with a request
which you may not question or refuse

He is TheGrimReefer ... his roleplay is an adaptation of:

The Lone Ranger
The Godfather
The Shadow
Batman

------------------------------------------------------------------
edit
correct answer would be: The Shadow
correct dismissal of the question would be Thegrimreefer ain't necessarily role playing

The godfather doesn't need prior contact to make offers you can't refuse
The Lone Ranger left silver bullets behind as mementos / to cover his bar tab
Batman was a self funded(self sufficient) vigilante that would just as soon memory wipe ya to keep his secrets ... secret.
(no conditionals for future contact)

And of course I would provide whatever small favor he asked of me.

If I purchased one with a non tamer character ( any character of mine so far, even after all these years), can it still be trained?

And what can it be trained to do? I've also never had a tamer. The beetle was for my miner.. can it fight ore elementals?

I have one that's fully trained. It's good against the occasional harpy & ogre but I wouldn't bet on it against an ore elemental. It is nice to not have to worry about it in areas with low level monsters though.

Yes it can be trained by a non tamer, just make sure it's bonded first. When a pet fights, it's skills rise just like ours but quicker.
If your char is human you can lore your pet with the ol' 'jack of all trades'. It can (take many, many tries sometimes but it will work to see what your pet's skills are and where. If your char is not human a ring and/or bracelet with 20+ lore will do the trick.

I can think of only two drawbacks. You need either magery (preferable) or chiv to heal your pet. And if said pet dies you need to find a tamer to rez it or bring it to an npc vet.
