[Treasure Hunting] Finished Maps

I have dusted off my t-hunter just recently and have been playing with level 1 and 2 maps. When I would return to the bank to deposit my loot,I'd discard the finished maps. The maps would not stay on the ground long before someone would grab them all up.This makes me wonder if there is a purpose for a finished map that I do not know about?

Completed treasure maps may be collected and used to create a Tattered Wall Map.

I think they may also be worth points for Clean Up Britannia.

Tattered wall map, only if read and dug by the cartographer crafting the map

Clean up points - sorry, don't remember the values, but it increases per map level.

Level one is 50 points and I think the last level 4 I dropped in got me 500 points, but I'm not totally sure on that.
