Finally Tamed not One! But TWO!!!

Since Hiryus came into UO I have tamed every color except one, blaze CUs no problem I have tamed 6 of them, but this hiryu has eluded me for years. Any variation of the pink color Woke up and couldn't get back to sleep around 330am this morning and made a quick run from the wolf house to the coast to play around trying to get some color to spawn. Didn't have to play around at all standing right there was a pink one. Which I promptly tamed. And then by magic another pink one spawned right beside me. Off to the hitching post and stable the first one and zipped back and tamed the second one. NOw this might not be a big deal for many, but for me after years of trying it is one of those personal crowning achievement events in game

I keep the tamer on the boat and fly around on my Garg Mystic killing them until a color spawns then lead it back to the boat hit it with a couple of hail storms with the dragon slayer book in hand. Then hop the tamer off tame and recall to the wolf or hiryu house. I have the house back over on the other side again where there are more lessers. Full of cages for debatable ones and a hitching post folks can use and a tele tile back to Zento if needed. Feel free to use the house but keep in mind they come across that server line at paragon speed and you don't want to slow down until you are on the porch. Only shard I know that does not have that servr line there is Origin and a friend owns it now and it is public with a post. Usually tame most of my hiryus on Origin for that reason and shield them to other shards. And a side note for my friend, if you use his house drop some goldies on the porch piles as a TY for him keeping the house public so everyone can use it

LOL feel stupid for being this happy over a couple of pink hiryus but I can't even count the hundreds of hours I have spent killing grey ones over the years and the pink shades always eluding me. I think we all have that one or two things we really want in game and want to obtain for ourselves instead of buying a Pink Hiryu obviously is one of my "I win UO" things. Given the extremely low odds of Pinks Spawning I about stroked out when the second one spawned right after the first. And NOW after fullfilling my RL obligations today I can start training my new pink pets

But taming cus is such a pain to do a tame and release outside of the mushroom gate.

I got a purple a few days ago but now I’m here working the spawn for a flipping bright green. Have every color other than that.

Now if I can just get a red, black, ice, and blaze cu I’d die happy.
But taming cus is such a pain to do a tame and release outside of the mushroom gate.

Take a sampire, another tamer with a fully trained pet or a mystic and kill them instead of doing the tame and release, much much faster and a sampire and fully trained pet can take out paragons, Sampire can mow them down fairly fast. And hopefully have a second acct with your tamer to tame the colored Cu's. That tame and release is a huge time sink and grind. Course so is killing them hoping for rare color

Main problem is that my playstyle on my sampire is heavily dependent on karma based chivalry spells. I know it’s relatively easy to max it out again with the exodus ritual but it’s easier for me just to avoid lowering it. I try to avoid being ganked by a horde of pixies and dryads.

Some tame them and start the attack and release the Cu. I assume it does not cause karma loss.

One guy tames them and releases so the changlings attack the released ones. The whole area was full of Cus the other day. Looked like a Cu Ranch. He named them all Nope.

The annoying thing is when a paragon Irk hops over the wall. Really makes the swoop farmers mad.

A former Stratics staffer used to have a blue PK HERDER on SP, by running the Oaks spawn in Ilshenar up to unicorns, then herding the Spirit gate passage full of Ki-rins and Unicorns. any neg karma that came through the gate and started to move (and become visible) was toast, before they could react.

I believe similar things are done with tamers and Cus in the Mushroom cave, releasing the cave full of Cus right at the door (and former pets have a chance to aggro neg karma, making a trip the Weald potentially dangerous). That's not counting leading para cus to the Weald entrance/exit on the inside, as Para cus will aggro on neg karma even when normal wild ones won't.

I just spent two hours with a bard, a thrower, and a tamer with a powerhouse cu. Used the cu to tank para cus and slam the cus with a get Slayer thrower bombing AIs with provoking reg cus On it. Took down three different characters karma to neg ( a few dire wolves and was high enough to leave without being slammed by pixies).
Sadly, only got normals and a few blues. If anyone comes across a white, black, red, pink, or blaze hit me up.
My gold stores are ready.

The pink ones are regular, read 3 slot hiryu.

Not to derail this thread too much, but killing the cu sidhe that had been tamed and released does not lower karma. You gain fame still. I have killed plenty of them in what I call the cavern of the unwanted.

Now back on topic! Congrats sir on achieving your dream tame!

I tame one... tell it to attack another... tell it to "stop"... just before the tame one is almost dead ... I release it... the wild one will finish killing it and you can go get another... works even faster if there is a paragon one there... just sick the new pet on the paragon.

Unicorns are always turned into the Zoo for points.

As for other things... I used to tame a bunch of Unicorns back in RP and release them all over the city of Yew... We had an "evil" guild of Vampires that wanted to take the town... and I used the Unicorns to keep them out of town. Any "Vampire" would have to cast Vampiric Embrace... more of the Necro they cast the lower their Karma... and the Unicorns were great at killing them or discouraging them from coming to Yew. When I found out their Guild Hall was by the Brit Swamp I loaded that with Unicorns.

Full Hiryus the lessers only come in the green and blue variations.

I think I confused you, apologies sir. I was referring to type, regular vs lesser, which is why I added read 3 slot.
There is no doubt the colors have different levels of rarity.

I get more ice green and blue/yellow than any other color hands down.......... to the point I just kill the ice greens like they are regular grey ones The Strong Yellow and Strong Green are my favorite colors. Just can't seem to get a strong green or yellow to spawn with top end stats Which is the only way a full Hiryu comes out comparable to a lesser Hiryu........ Saves a ton of training points if the HP are near born with max and the Str is over cap.

The RNG promises a few things when looking for color in pets..... You will get every color except the one you want and it will sometimes go hours to the point of making you believe color no longer spawns

I think price on these should take in consideration at least two things as far as color is concerned : The rarity in % spawn chances, and likely the time and effort it took to bring up that color. I suspect the pink Greater Hiriu should be at least 100 M, not 10 M at all, juddjing from the time and effort...
