[Now]

Nathan Hawke paced the corridors of the Castle. His emotions were switching from rage, incredulity and sadness. What on earth was going on with the Royal Guard? Where was Fynn when he was needed? Why hadn't anyone investigated the apparent bank robbery in Yew? Why were there no reports on his desk about any of this?

Didn't anyone care anymore?

Did he have to do everything himself?

[Earlier that day]

The first piece of unsettling news was that a single armed man had got into the Castle. This in itself wasn't necessarily too much of a problem. Whilst the Royal Guard had failed to stop this happening, the Queen's personal body guard had reported the incident to Nathan who had ordered the intruder to be watched in case he revealed who he was or what he wanted. With a caveat that in no circumstances could the Queen's life even remotely be threatened.

What made Nathan's jaw dropped was that the intruder was tracked for some hours prowling the castle without detection. This couldn't be allowed to continue and Nathan decided to confront the young man and see what he had to say for himself.

There was very little conversation - when the young man realised he was cornered he reacted by drawing his blade and he flew at Nathan Hawke who was taken by surprise. After a short battle the outcome was inevitable.

Nathan searched the body for clues and what he found was ... interesting.

[Even earlier that day]

Nathan now moved north to Yew - he had been sent a vague report about a forced open strong box and some blood on the gound but that was all. It had taken Nathan only a few minutes to find the blood-stained dagger and start to follow the blood trail before the warning had come in about the intruder in the palace.

Nathan decided that in this case he was personally going return to the Castle and run the operation there until Fynn arrived and took over. He hoped that someone would compile a report on the happening in Yew and investigate this fully.

Nathan Hawke sat down at his desk and began writing a full-report for the Queen. This wasn't going to make for good reading...
