Just wondering if you can use the fertile dirt from Earth Eles for planting?

Yes:)....also sometimes from regs that spawn when you plant green thorns in dirt, or loot from antlions (0-5), and 1-10 from whipping vines.</p>

I have a friend that has been doing plants for over a year now. She says fertile dirt is no different from regular dirt and gave up gathering it a long time ago.

Take your bowls to New Haven and one click fills them from the ground.

If anyone has a different opinion of fertile dirt then... we should probably make a forum specially for the "fertile dirt gardeners."

Now the Alchemsts... they stay right here in this forum where we can keep an eye on em. *glares at alchemists*

Safe Travels, Sam

Thx folks for the info. I have been playing off and on for about 5 years and never tryed my hands at planting anything in the game so I thought I would give it a try. So wish me luck.

Good luck Banner, I've never really noticed any improvement or better growth quality using fertile dirt myself. I've used normal dirt since gardening went live.

Curious: Do you get the extra growth bursts from the normal dirt? I've always used the fertile and get at least an bonus growth day per plant - time consuming gathering though but the 10 anniv drops in Shame make it more exciting.

also, anyone found the seed detector resource? Where does it come from??

Yes. It's from the new poppies ... very, very useful.
And people buy the dust after we use it for decorating. I can't keep it stocked. :) On the other hand, no one is buying the new poppies so I have an overabundance of them. :(

Fertile Dirt is usefull for generally shaving about 1 to 2 days off the time it takes a seed to grow from planted to "Deco Mode"...

It doesn't "Pop" every growth check so if you are a casual gardener and use it only occasionally, and don't pay close attention, I can see why people think it doesn't do anything, but truly it does...

To prove this to yourself, collect 100 FD (enough to plant 5 seeds, thank you SAK :) ) and plant 5 seeds in the FD all at the same time... give all 5 "Seeds in bowls of soft dirt" 2 doses of strength and 2 doses of heath (this is not strictly necessary but does seem to increase the likelyhood of getting a "Pop") and wait 24 hours...

It's likely, but not certian, that at least one of the 5 will be on stage 3 instead of stage 2 when you log in to care for your plants after the 24 hours... if this happens, you'll also see a light green plus sign in the upper right corner of the plant gump instead of the normal dark blue one.

Care for the 5 plants as normal and add the 2 Str and 2 Heath if you want to increase the chances and wait another day... now you'll have mostly 3s with a possilble 4 or two and maybe even a 5 (if you got very lucky and the same plant got two doubles)...

Rinse and repeat.

DHMM: Fertile vs Scooping: hehe Yup I've grown thousands of plants but, I've NEVER just scooped dirt and always hacked at the EEls (was fun getting the 10th drops) & seem to alway have gotten extra growths along with the happy green + sign - Soooo the time spent farming the dirt vs couple extra days (which was great during the new plants and the black and white new ones and seeing them a day or 2 earlier) I'll be scooping for a while now - (though the reduction from 40 to 20 fert dirt is cool) .... Still curious to see if I'll get any growth bursts with the scooped.

FG: Dust: Really excited about the poppy resource !! AND the 'dust' Flora mentioned ... that's rich - poppy dust - makes me giggle.

PS My warrior chars that like to venture into areas of nasty poison and other casting critters really count on the orange petals which invoked me to garden in the first place back when ---- then i had fun crossing for my own deco - but shoot - with the Pub 56+ new plants and then the new black and ones striving for the black or white cypress was super cool ... Related: Cooking to GM for grapes of wrath & enchanted apples has really paid off too .... never sold any of my growing and cookings but I am a high consumer of them PLUS nice teetering back and forth between botany & nutrition and hard core farming :) .. great game
