Fatal Errors are Ruining My Life

I have two laptops, one with XP and one with Windows 7. I also have a desktop with Windows 7. All computers have the latest Direct X because it'a required by the other games I play. All run 64 bit.
All three use Trend Micro Titanium AV program.
All computers stay updated as far as drivers and required important windows updates.
Fresh install didn't seem to help.
I did not have a problem for nearly two whole days. Thought it was fixed, but then it happened again.
Completely random events. Happens with or without UO Assist running. Only when changing settings or changing characters.
Fully logging out doesn't seem to change anything.
Could be Trend Micro Titanium. Only common denominator. Will try turning it off *wince* and see.
Ive worked with computers for 17 years as my profession - and Trend is one of the worst av programs i ever encountered that is sold for real money. AVG is bad (for a free and paid version) with all the extra they put in, that slows down your web surfing. Norton i would kick out the door once i see it...

I use NOD 32 or microsoft security essentionals - MSE is very good (and free), and smooth, dont take resourses and cleans the most - with giving you options once it find anything.

I would start on one computer and disable Trend, see how that works. Put in MSE and let it run...but - NOT together with TREND...they seem to hate eachother.

:( I like trend micro. It's not intrusive and I never notice it. :(

I run Trend also, I have it on my laptop and my desktop. My wife's computer has it also. I do not have the Fatal errors on the laptop or her computer.

To share my solution to the problem...I had a similar experience, random fatal errors. For me, it was my soundcard that was causing the problem. If I had EC playsound on when starting up, or playing for that matter, the problem got worse. Seems there was an expeceted interrupt that did not occur, resulting in a bluescreen. If you get in again, disable the sound in your settings so it will be off at log out. When you log in the next time, the splash screen sound will be off and you can test the solution which got me playing again.

So we keep bouncing this threat up to the top for Flutter until she can get through trying everything that everyone is suggesting with hopes someone comes up with the right solution. :)

(yes.. I mean thread with a 't' !!! It is a threat to her sanity)

The fact that you went two days playing with no errors is a weird clue... I wonder what could have been different? I'd try running an error tracking log in the background for a while..

Have a look at your Event Log and tell us what it said for the crash. You can use the time to know exactly which event is which...

I'm getting the fatal error as well since the last patch - I use Classic . Yesterday it occurred each time I selected a character to log in to (tried alternative Shards with same 'Fatal' message. I tried rebooting, starting only from the game instead of UO Assist. Neither worked. Today I was able to select a character but when I went to add a new macro under options, the fatal box came up again and shut down the game (then it started to give the fatal message again each time I picked a character). I looked under the event viewer for both days and there's no errors for when it happens. This occurred on my desktop which is an XP build. When I tried on my laptop (windows 7 build) I had no issues selecting a character but I wasn't game to try to add a new macro and logged out while it was still working. Both machines have Trend Micro). First time I've had this issue in 14 yrs too :(

I cant tell you on XP, too long since i had my hands on it except for customers that still runs it on anceint comuters... But, if you got XP pro - you would find it in event viewer / applications - there will be a error code i think, that might not gonna say you so much - but u can google it and get a clue to what is crashing.

Win7 x86/x64 I have no errors...Only thoose times I log in with UO Assist, and it says 'Server Mismatch' - i just log out again and in again, - if i continue everything is freezing.

With last patch, the 'soundLegacyMUL.uop' was changed - wich is containing sound info... so can be a old bug coming back to soundcard drivers.

Ever since the migration to the cloud, I get that if I misenter my password. At that point, I know I should exit completely and try again, because a client crash is guaranteed. UOA before could recognize an invalid login attempt, and I wonder if the server move changed the feedback it's expecting.
