Just wanted to drop a note to let folks know I've yanked the billing info from all my UO accounts and passed all of the account information on to two guildmates. I will soon be uninstalling UO from my computer. If you happen to know who my characters are and see them running around, it's highly unlikely it's me that's playing them.

I'm not going to bore any of you with my reasons for leaving. Also, my Stratics mail / messages are turned off and Petra's going to be holding the keys, so to speak, to my Stratics account. She'll assign a new password and give it back to me if I ask her for it. But I doubt I'll be asking her for it.

See this is prime example of what Cal could have done. Had he made it so you could get a Bane at ether of these sites there wouldnt have been so much drama for poor Tina. No they had to make it in the Abyss so the griefers have a field day. The Dread War ponys were on both Fel and Tram and fully tameable so why the sudden limitation on the dragons this time. It's sad to see vets leave the game, you put over a decade of your life to this game, friends and family all. I ask you all who want to leave to reconsider .... if your not here who will Tina come back to see??

Thought maybe it was in the Fel rule set area and she was getting PKed all the time. Shame it wasn't there, I think I know enough people that I could have protected her there while she tamed one.

I wont dare speak for Tina (Delores) but I doubt seriously it's the fact that she couldn't tame a bane. Anyone could have transferred a bane dragon to her.

I think the issue, more than likely, goes to the fact that it doesn't seem like the dev team really cares about what the players think, want, or need anymore. We ask for a solution to a problem and are basically told to, wait a week, there is no problem.


From my own personal point of view I don't really blame her.

First Mythic took over and puked all over our game.

I think it goes as far back as KR for me. Those of us who worked so very hard beta testing and defending while working to make improvements that were sorely needed basically got dumped along with the client.

Then many people who cared very deeply for this game and who knew many of us on a first name basis got fired. We got handed around to different community people till finally there was no community at all.

Now we get updates with no discussions. We get told what is being added to the game without any open discussion at all about if we even really want it. Then when presented with an issue get told to get over it.

If they continue to ignore the "good" players and allow the griefing players to carry on as they do there wont be much of a game left at all.
Tina leaving is bad for all of us.

There is a reason why I rarely read Stratics anymore, too dang many sad posts. I just always assumed Tina would be here when they closed the doors on UO, and Connor too (Kelmo if you leave I am closing my Stratics account!).

Lots of players have come and gone in this game. I think people get upset because of what what they can't do in the game. Long ago it was small numbers of players that caused problems creating situations that caused players to quit. That hasn't changed. I doubt it will because it is difficult to stop players who want to harass other players from doing so. Also you can't stop players from feeling harassed even if they weren't intentionally harassed by others. Other players may just not care what you think and so slight you because of that. Long ago I have resigned my self to not being able to do everything partly because I lack the time and partly because I don't enjoy it. So I tend to focus on what I can do and what I enjoy doing which is much more than what I can't do. So what if I can't do everything in the game? Does that mean I don't enjoy playing? And there is still so much that I can do that it keeps me occupied and happy. I used to think it meant the end of the game is coming when players who add much to the game quit but so far it hasn't been the case, yet it still bothers me.

I hear you, in my mind the game went down hill with AoS but that is a different argument all together.

I cant believe Im going to play devils advocate here, cause EA/Mythic really disgust me, but here goes....

It does have to be really hard in regards to the following:

Keeping old subscriptions
Making new subscriptions
Making ever player happy in Tram
Making ever player happy in Fel
Keeping the game fresh
adding content without bugs for two clients (never happens)
adding content without destroying balance
Most importantly the programmers/developers having to adhere to their bosses orders/whims. Sometimes the bosses have good calls sometimes they don't. Sometimes people in charge are good, sometimes they are complete buffoons, sadly usually the buffoons don't realize what they are.

I don't know what the answers are, heck we cant even get people to agree on what the definition is for a Classic Shard. So to truly make the game where everyone loves it has to be very difficult... not sure what WoW did to get and keep so many people... and no I don't play WoW. Maybe that's where UO went wrong, trying to make it too much like WoW?

In the end, it is usually the game community who suffers.

Thought it was the "pvpers" that usually lose in Fel, getting bored and going to Tram to grief. You generally wont get that in games such as WoW and AoC because they have PvE and PvP servers.

I do not know her personally nor have i had the wounderfull experience of meetineg her in game but I have seen and marveled at her work here. She is one of the greatest reasons the game is / was so good for community.

I really dont know what caused you to make this decision to leave, but Im asking you to reconsider. You are needed here...in game and on Stratics. You are a very valuable part of this community, and a very respected player.

Dont let something you love slip away by making quick decisions. Please think about it a bit more. We know you loved what you did here. You couldnt hide it. People depended so much on your posts to play the game. You probably are one of the reasons some players stayed and werent overwhelmed with all the changes that could take place with updates. They knew that you would be there to walk them through...I was one of them myself.

Tina has indeed left the game. I even lost a bet on this one. She was serious this time. Her accounts are in good hands should she ever decide to return.

Is she still reading stratics? I can't say for sure. If I had to guess, I would say no. It's part of the overall plan to make a clean break from the game. I do know that she shut off her PM's here.

Will she return to the game? Again I don't know, but I hope she will someday. I get to talk to her a bit in ICQ and TS from time to time, but overall she is moving on.

For me, I'm not leaving UO for another game. Along with being 100% in agreement with Tina's viewpoint on Cal's disregard for what happens in the events, I no longer have time to play as I am spending my days concentrating on maintaining my 4.0 GPA in college on my path to earning my Bachelor of Science degree. My days are filled with either school or spending time with my daughters, and UO is getting kicked to the curb in favor of things that really matter. When my account is sold I will be requiring the buyer to use the EA account transfer service, so once it's done, it's done for good.
