[Tina Small]

Just wanted to drop a note to let folks know I've yanked the billing info from all my UO accounts and passed all of the account information on to two guildmates. I will soon be uninstalling UO from my computer. If you happen to know who my characters are and see them running around, it's highly unlikely it's me that's playing them.

I'm not going to bore any of you with my reasons for leaving. Also, my Stratics mail / messages are turned off and Petra's going to be holding the keys, so to speak, to my Stratics account. She'll assign a new password and give it back to me if I ask her for it. But I doubt I'll be asking her for it.

Take care and thank you to so many of you for becoming a friend. I wish you only the best in the future.

On another thread you mentioned your grandson being injured by having been shaken when he was only a few weeks old. I am sorry that happened to him and your family.

I was going to suggest that you take this as an opportunity to educate some people who still don't know how dangerous shaking a child can be. I don't know the best websites online for information concerning Shaken Baby Syndrome, but I will go ahead and link to a couple that appear, to me, to be respectable.

Please people ... if you don't already know not to shake a baby or young child, go to these pages and learn something that is really important.

My quick advice to anyone who is dealing with little ones...

Taking care of children can be stressful. If you are stressed, make sure the child is safe (in their crib or in a child safe room, if they are a little older), then shut the door and walk away. Just leave them and come back later. Call someone to take over for a few minutes or hours, if you need to but just get away, so you don't hurt the child. Sometimes a few minutes of peace and quiet is all you need to think things through. It can prevent a lifetime of suffering.

Tina left cause of Griefing, but it hit home for her, to a baby in her heart who was hurt by random violence. In my years of play I have seen the transference of rl to game alot.
Griefing is the last straw for her but I need to point out 1 tiny fact : She is not the first one to walk away because of it. If I listed all the Que's calls to the GM's that were from players for this very reason this page would be miles long. Griefing should not be allowed, it follows harrassment like a glove. There is one thing EA dont like and that is harrassment.

I have watched people walk away form UO for over 13 years. I Lost a whole guild (335 members) in under 3 months after one famous patch. Friends have left for various reasons, many Ignored by the past Dev teams when problems arose too insormountable for them to deal with. We cant aford the losses this time.
I expect better from a Air Force man, (being an air force brat myself) You have done good for us, I have come to respect you for your genuine hard work in reguards to the game. Dont slip up on this one big guy. I know we are low on GM's. Just try for us please.

I disagree... I think Cal does care. But I DON'T think Cal understands the UO community at all, treating it like any other MMO out there, pretending it's all about PvP. It's not.

Maybe you are right. Maybe Cal thinks in terms of what UO should be. Unfortunately, when I read these boards I realize that UO has become something completely different, which is a boring SIMS game without risk and challenge. Changing things back is next to impossible, or at least a very controversial subject, as most players got used to this item-based softened game world.

Anyway, my best wishes to Tina Small. Although I haven't met her in person I am aware of what she has achieved and done for the community. Tina, I may not always share your opinion, but I admire you for your commitment and honesty. Safe travels!

Well, to be honest, it does seem he is more intent on providing personal community service than, say, Sunsword.

Under Cal, we've had the continuation of EM events, we have Mesanna and a TON of personal touches added or implemented to our shards.

Yes, it is quite obvious to me that Cal still has some issues on things regarding UO. But it is ALSO quite obvious that we are seeing things in game that you'd never think we could have in game in like 2004-2006, so its unfair placing all the blame on him. There have been, imo, quite a few well done things put in.

We never met in game, but I cant tell you how much I appreciate all the work you have done testing, and compiling information for UO. Especially during the release of Stygian Abyss.

I am in the same boat as you and some others when it comes to the current status of things in UO. It is not the fact that griefers exist, it's the fact there are no repercussions for their actions. At least before the Fell/Trammel split players could deal with these situations on their own.

But the way I now see it things have boiled down to this:

EM events that have people who constantly spam over the Moderators. But nothing is done...and we are told to ignore it

Storyline events (such as the current Ophidian/Bane event) which are designed in a way that is easy to grief. When they could have easily created more spawn and a spawn in Fell. But nothing is done...and we are told to ignore it

A new in game chat system is put into place that on any given time (at least on Atlantic) your screen is spammed with language better suited for a porn movie. Even free message boards like stratics have don't tolerate language like that, much less a game that we pay for. But nothing is done...and we are told to ignore it.

Scripting that is so rampant that you can go to almost any mine in game and be surrounded by people, yet none of them are actually attended. We are told that "a fix is in the works" But nothing is done...and we are told to ignore it.

I have decided that if I have to ignore most of the new content that is going to be developed...Maybe it is time to leave.

The fel and tram banes cannot be tamed, as has been mentioned a few dozen times in as many threads. Only the Abyss banes are tamable.
