Fairly new to siege, what should I expect?

I have been here for almost 2 weeks and have enjoyed it so far. Luckily right now my character is obviously new and I have been told a few times that it is nice to see new people on the shard. I am sure that my character obviously looking like a noob taming bears and timber wolves is why I haven't been attacked as of yet. As I progress and look less like a noob, what should I expect as I come across people? I am sure that most reds will probably kill me but what about the average blue? Is there much dry looting or mount killing (provding that it isn't a fighting pet)? Are there many thieves left? Do pet Summoning Balls work on Siege and do they work in T2A lands and illshenar? I have played about every proffession in game, what are some that might be more interesting with the siege ruleset? I know it's a lot of questions but just trying to get a more accurate feel for the shard. Thanks!

Yes, pk's are around, and there's the obvious opportunistic pk's as well. If you are wearing the [NEW] tag, you will be somewhat protected from them - but not completely. Be sure to count any pk's, unless they are blue - then it's your call. If I'm red, I like the counts, so I'm less likely to loot, and might even rez.

The shard is kind-of slow at the moment, but if you can get into a guild with people you enjoy, there's usually something happening. Siege can get pretty lonely solo, however.

Train hiding, it'll help.

Petballs do work here (not in t2a, but definitely in ilsh), but they are also in demand, so expect them to be looted. If you are wearing a fairly cheap newbie imbued suit, people won't usually loot it, unless they don't have time to look.

If you want to make some gold fairly quickly, do some leather gathering while training. In bulk, it sells well. Post here to sell it though, it can sit on a vendor for quite some time till someone finds it.

Also, the BOS quest and petball farming is a good way to make newbie gold.

They'll only work if your pet is out of the stable. Pet balls also work in T2A, except inside the champ spawn boundaries.

Yeah, it's also a bit of an oxymoronic statement - except given the context.

It seems I'm a bit rusty on petballs, or my geography. Best just to get one and try it out.

Well, the same thing people have been experiencing over the last 5+ years. Very small but tight knit community. Bickering back and forth here on the forum to prove who has the largest e-peen. In game expect to see nearly nobody around since most people play with hiding and stealth. Be prepared to die in most cases when you do happen to see someone (or they see you). If you are a solo player, you will find Siege pretty easy. You can find places where others won't bother you while you are building your skills and wealth.

Once you need other players, don't expect to get help immediately since it takes time for people to find out you are looking for them. *shrugs* Siege is Siege, and you will find out shortly if it is a shard you will enjoy. If you want a lot of players around, don't expect to get that on Siege...la

That's not really true. With general chat/siege forum, it doesn't usually take long to get help if you need it.
