Factions: Turn it into Facet Wars

So with the current faction system in place, setting vendor prices, taxation rates, etc, etc. Can we try to have factions across all facets? Once you join a faction, you are free-ly attack able in all facets, the rewards, if you control say Trammel or Malas, your faction will gain all the rights to taxation of vendors for that facet. Non-faction players will also suffer from taxation penalties but will not be subject to the PvP ruleset. Thus, it will be an incentive to join if you'd like control of your favorite facet.

Faction rewards/items should be specific to each facet, but the generic versions they have now. No idea no how to balance that, but for now keep them the same.

No more bank sitting to wait out murder counts for blue faction players, no more having your buddies give you points to wear the cool gear to PvM...bring back an incentive filled Faction-based PvP system.

Thoughts?

As much as I would love to PvP on all facets, being able to run through people, constantly being near gates, recalling, etc. would all become extremely irritating. I think this would only make most people drop out of factions. The solution isn't forcing people to PvP when they don't want to, the solution is giving those people a reason to WANT to PvP.

Siege covers the biggest part of your post. I dont play Siege but it does cover it.

So why should players that dont like to PvP be forced into taxation or join a faction facet? Forcing players into an enviroment/game play they dont want to play doesnt help the game. The old Order vs Chaos would be a better system for players who only want to fight on any facet. They most likely wont bring it back since it would mess with UO lore.

I do think they need to ditch faction arties all together. Eliminate faction arties makes you wonder how many would really play factions. Factions was meant to be more then about items.

Factions is all about stat loss now. Without stat loss, it is almost impossible for a smaller number of people to defeat a greater number of people because blues are like zombies: no matter how many times you kill them they keep coming back. Honestly, I think they need to make stat loss a general rule in fel. Perhaps making a blue stat loss timer between 5 and 10 minutes, and then doubling it for faction players. The double stat loss timer would only take effect if they are killed by another faction player, otherwise the blue stat timer takes effect. Yes it sucks going in to stat loss, but after dealing with it for quite a while now I understand that it is almost a necessity now.

I played factions. I hated when you did kill a larger group of faction players they just log off that account and jump on another faction char so I was fighting the same person again with no stat loss. Now if we died we was in stat loss.

That's another problem, but at least if you're good enough you can stat their alts too. :thumbup: It wouldn't be a bad idea to make the stat loss affect every player on the account, forcing you to be out of the fight until it's over.

I knew it wouldn't last long. First you say you need to give people a reason to want to PvP, then you say you want to punish their whole account when they lose a fight. Bad idea, of course.

I would love to see some limited stat loss for the fel based blue gank squads this would do alot to add some truely needed leveling to the field. Nothing is more annoying then haveing Mr. Blue and his two pets hugging the gate and tossing bola's with no downside and all the ablity to screw around in good faction PvP.

I never said the reason to want to PvP had anything to do with the punishment for losing. Being as you've probably been on the losing side of every fight you've ever had, I can understand your concern. :lol:

He is right though. Your suppose to be punished when you die in factions vs factions. Not the "Oh lets go get my other char or other account up and be back in the battle!!!" It defeats the purpose.
