Faction Guards, Mages and Vendors. Questions.

Okay, another plethora of questions.

1. Faction Vendors.

Can anyone use these vendors? i.e. your not in a faction or part of a different faction? Are faction traps bought at one vendor say a CoM vendor, can they be used by a TB faction member? Or are they faction specific when you buy them?

2. Faction Guards/Mages

Is there any way for someone who isint in a faction office to buy them? Also, can they be killed? If yes, do they respawn or is that it, they are dead? Do you get silver or kill points for killing them?

3. Do these guards and mages kill on sight people in opposing factions?

4. Can you buy a faction war horse for your own faction in a different faction town? i.e. Im in TB faction but CoM is the only faction with vendors, can I buy a faction war horse from those vendors?

5. What are the types of enhancements you can put on faction made armor?

Faction traps are never bought. They are crafted by a faction crafter and they are specific to the faction said crafter is in. Once crafted, anyone in that faction can place them. No other faction can place those traps.

You must hold the position of sheriff of a town, your faction must control the town to control or make guards.

They can be killed, rather easily with a tamer or a few necro mages. They do not yield silver or kill points but if they kill you, you will go into stat.

They attack on sight like any other mindless npc.

No, you can only buy faction war horse from your own factions war horse vendors.

I believe you can bless things by imbuing them with silver. This bless lasts 3 weeks if I recall. Faction members may purchase faction artifacts with silver at their base. You may only use the ones that your rank supports but you may purchase them at any time. these items are character specific.

Thanks Omnius that helped a lot, since the info out there is rather vague with this kinda stuff.

Where can I find some info on making some traps? Like what is needed (skills and materials) and how kill point works with traps, where they can be placed (only in a town you control, or any town? Out in the wild?)

As far as making faction armor, is there anything special to do the bless thing? Or is it in the gump for said tradeskill?

Oh and can anyone buy ore and wood from faction vendors? Assuming they are NOT in an opposite faction? Meaning not in any faction at all. Or are those vendors only for faction members?

Thanks RichDC.

What kind of ore is sold on them? Just iron? Or others as well?

Just normal resources are sold
So what is the point of those vendors? I mean regular resources are sold everywhere. Are they cheaper? Higher stock? Never go up in price? And I assume anyone can use these vendors?

I am not sure if there is higher stock, but generally the prices are cheaper. It is hard to say because fel faction cities can be taxed by the faction controlling the city, so while the prices could be cheaper they could also be higher.

anyone can use the vendors and the finance minister of the town sets the price levels. They are usually dirt cheap.

The materials needed are in the tinkering menu for each trap. explodes traps require 10 ingots, 1 explode potion and 250 silver i believe. The different types of traps may be located only in certain areas. explodes in any faction town. poisons in any faction base.

You get silver every 5 times the same person steps on the same trap. Silver the first time and then not again until 5 more steps on it later. You never get points from traps. its 20 silver though.

The blessed armor has alot of requirements. 1) you must craft it in a faction city at that cities forge. 2) Your faction must currently control said city. 3) It requires 1000 silver. If you make the armor on your faction crafter in such circumstances a gump should pop up asking if you want to imbue it with silver.

Just throwing this out there because I haven't tried it and we never guard sigils, but if you own a town can you craft faction swamp dragon barding deeds for a colored swampy?

Anyone ever tried this?

The problem with faction guards is that they can be killed by anyone, so most of the time people will jump on their non-faction chars and kill the guards. They will turn grey, but since there isn't any guardzones on faction towns they can't get guardwhacked.

Cowards, I say!

I would imagine killing faction guards with a nonfaction character might also be considered interfering with factions. Could get you in trouble if someone wanted to make an issue out of it and page a GM.

No it's fine. You're allowed to kill anything you want in fel. unimpeded. If that guard looks at you funny you SHOULD kill him regardless of affiliation.

I would say this was more boarder lined exploiting game mechanics. Those towns are suppose to have normal town guards in them, but were removed for recent events, so you should, normally, get guard whacked for trying to kill the faction guards. But then I suppose it is an intended game mechanic so I don't know.

I think it really depends on how a GM interprets the rules. The Knowledgebase provides this Q&A (http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=231):

QUESTION
Blue players are interfering in our faction wars!

Answer
As a reminder, participation in the faction system is limited to those players who have joined factions. The development team is currently working on fine tuning changes to the faction system, and will be addressing the participation of ‘blue’ players who are not faction members. In the meantime, we urge that if you are a ‘blue’ player and wish to participate in the faction system, you should take the time to join a faction and avoid disrupting other players from outside the system.
I can easily imagine a GM deciding that a nonfaction player killing faction guards is being disruptive of the faction system.
