Faction Crimson Cincture?

I've just returned after 10 or so years, and a few of my chars have Crimson Cinctures.

I got them when they first came out. But on one of my characters, it's a faction item which I can't use.

When I played these didn't exist (that I know of) and no one did factions.

Does anyone know how anything about this? It has a lifespan..

I only started playing again a few months ago but to get a Crimson Cincture now you have to join VvV.

Is your character in a guild and in VvV because if not maybe it gives the Crimson a lifespan if you don't rejoin? Just a theory.
