Faction Changes in Publish 54

  • Faction Vendors no longer block Faction Guards or players
  • Fixed an issue with Sigils getting stuck in the incorrect state and requiring a server restart before corruption could resume
  • Faction abbreviations will show in the player's onscreen name in Felucca (works with All Names)
    • [Min] Minax
    • [CoM] Council of Mages
    • [TB] True Britannians
    • [SL] Shadowlords
  • Red faction members/enemy guild members now con orange to an opposing guild or faction
  • Fixed a bug where logging out in Sanctuary caused loss of titles and kill points
  • Fixed the faction crafting menu. Players who craft items in a town they control, in the proper shop, will receive the faction enhancement menu after successfully creating an item.
  • Non-faction guilds that are part of an alliance can no longer join a faction without first leaving their alliance.
  • Faction commanders can now remove their own faction's traps regardless of skill, without a kit
  • Stuck Faction Traps Deeds will be removable from players’ backpacks after players quit the faction by double clicking or attempting to move the deed

I think the faction abbreviations are the biggest improvement. It was so irrirtating to have to try and click on someone to find out which faction they belong to. But there is obviously going to be some people who create guilds with those abbreviations. They should have used a different encapsulation like <SL>. Also I think Minax should have been MX. Min doesn't look right.

...Simply awesome. I was scared the changes would suck (like the last ones). Thank god, these ones are actually important. Aside from the crafting...but Ive been waiting for that to come back for ages. Hell yeah. Purple armor for me!

all good but i want a dif reward for joining the faction as in the robe having some sort of resist bonus or anything like that..

Just an FYI....Jeremy started a thread in UHall regarding testing the faction crafting. Her post includes a link to a document with more details on the faction crafting. I replied with a few questions of my own, including some questions regarding the change to allow CL's to pick up traps.

I really like all of those changes but I hope they realize that the bug of losing points in the sanctuary was more so a bug losing points in all new lands. Heartwood, Lady Mel, and what ever other instances that do no recognize the factions.

It would be neat if we could enhance our existing armor for factions by using silver... just give it the hue for 21 days and make it blessed. Honestly, who's gonna burn a barbed kit and waste a bunch of silver trying to get a peice to fit your suit?

I have no intention of burning up a runic tool to try to get armor or weapons that I can temporarily bless for my faction characters. If Jeremy confirms that you can't use powder of fortification on it, even after the blessing wears off, what would be the point of trying to get decent pieces that you would actually keep and use? Faction insurance renewal costs are so minimal, why bother with "faction blessing" your good stuff? Also, unless you're making a suit completely from scratch and you have a decent rank, you won't be able to create and wear a complete matched suit anyway.

Once this hits the production shards, about the only thing I will consider using it for is maybe cloaks, robes, and boots. Would be cool if you could sigil color arcane clothing, but my guess is that it's not going to work. You'll have to create the clothing and color it immediately after crafting it. Then if it's even possible to use an arcane gem on it, it will become red and you wasted your silver.

No wonder faction crafting died. There's almost no point to it.
