Equiping a PvP mage(two templates) advice sought

I've got two mage templates I need to equip up(actually four chars). One is your "standard" parry mage that will not be using mage weapons. The other is your "standard" necro mage that WILL be using mage weapons.

I've done a search... I've played with spread sheets and still could use some input.

Let us limit this discussion to faction artifacts, regular artifacts, replicas, and other items that cost under 10M and are "commonly" available. This rules out the LT sash of 40-50M+.

Goals of the suit would be to have these mods:
- 2 fast cast
- 6 fast cast recovery
- +20 magery for using mage weapons (not needed on parry mage)
- 45+ DCI (70 I think is the magic number)
- 100% lrc
- 40% lmc
- all 70s but obviously
- ep would be a bonus
- "easy" to fill in with imbued armor pieces

On faction items, lets ignore the rank and assume I will always have the points to have the right rank for the item.

For the base of this suit, what do you consider must have items?

The one that I see as must have is a faction crimson. 10hp increase is hard to argue against. Is there a better apron replacement piece?

The faction orni almost seems must have. The 3 mr from being faction makes it hard to argue when added to the normal 2/3 20lrc 10lmc and 10 energy.

The faction crystaline ring is an arguable piece. It is 3 fcr, 3mr, and 20 mage. The downside is no EP. Could be replaced with nicely imbued ecru ring(15 magery, 3fcr) and alchy talisman(5 magery and 15 ep)

Faction folded steels seem reasonable with good resists and 25 dci. But I've also seen HOM and faction kasa(10 dci with good resists and sdi)

I've seen both good and bad for the pendant of magi neck piece and the faction fey legs piece.

Chest piece I've seen faction rune beetle, faction heart of lion, and armor of fortune.

On the legs, I've seen spell woven britches mentioned also.

So what named pieces do you have and what is your logic in running them?

I don't use ep, so I would consider the following essential: faction ornie/crystalline/crimmie. I'd also use a totem of void as well.

The rest depends on how to get enough DCI and your playing style. I would add infinity quiver, conjurer garb for the 10 DCI. How much remaining DCI I'll need on the 6 piece suit depends on how much I plan to get from weapon/spellbook/shield.

I would use either faction folded steel OR fey leggings and either RBC OR heart of the lion. Then use 4 exceptional imbued leather pieces for the remaining.

For max DCI - go folded steel + heart of the lion. Counting exceptional leather pieces for 35 resists (assumes gm arms lore), the starting total resists for the set is 295. If the goal resists are 70-75-70-75-70, I need to add 65 resists total. Might be able to do this with 5 imbues, but I'll reserve 6 just to be sure and have an easier suit to make. That leaves 14 more imbues. 4 are needed for LRC. 3 will be needed for LMC. That leaves 7 for MR, HR, HPI, MI etc. This gives 50 DCI from head/chest/quiver/robe spots + whatever you hold in hands.

For more MR - folded steel + RBC. Total starting resists are 269. Reserve 8 imbues for resists. Again 4 are needed for LRC, but only 1 for LMC. This also leaves 7 for MR, HR etc. Only 35 DCI from head/chest/quiver/robe - but I can always add more when needed from weapon/book/shield.

If you did want to go with an ecru ring, pretty easy to swap out the head armor and crystalline for the faction kasa and imbued ecru as your starting point. Particularly for the parry mage, since you don't need the +magery.

LT. Sash cost me 35k magical residue
Traded a dready to a guildie for the light's rampart (bought the dready for 3.1k residue and +20 med PS)

All 70's Corpse Proof with 70% DCI.

Stats with pots & bless.

Get cash for Light's Rampart replica and a LT. sash, it's def worth it. My necro-mage's suit is almost similar to this..

Gloves are different (LMC LRC + resists), ring has +15 Mage FCR3 DCI13% EP50% LMC3%, -20 MW HF 50% SC0 Kryss and I use Conjurer's Garb on it. Faction heart+glasses give you great base resists to build your suit on. Light's Rampart helps quite alot with the resists as well so you can focus on LMC/MR/HPI/LRC almost completely on your suit.

Where does one get a light's rampart from normally?

I did a search and found nothing about it:confused:
