Enough population to warrant playing?

Greetings.

I made a character here years ago but didn't get him advanced very far. He is still pretty new. I much prefer the Siege ruleset to the regular shards. Are there enough people on Siege to bother trying to build my character up? Ive logged in a few times but never see anyone. I was going to just play Atlantic but I noticed there are semi-frequent posts here which makes me wonder if there is a decent sized community.

I wonlt lie the population is small. However the community is great, I would say yes it is worth playing here. And as we get more people that will only help our population!

Wow. 5 replys in 30 minutes. That certainly is encouraging. Are there any good vendor locations? I have checked out the "where to shop" sticky. Any of those left aside from the 2 recent ones?

New Magincia has several vendors. There is a couple vendors in Luna. Also Yewgate has vendors and there is a vendor in that one spot near Skara gate.

vendors . yeah we got a few scatterd around various guard zomes , look around moongates and town edges . new mag has a bunch

I played 4 different shards before Siege, all maxed out item and skill-wise before I left. Came to SIge now almost 4 years ago.,... never looked back. If you are the player that can stand losing something, this is the (only) shard to play!

I have been messing around a bit on my old character. Apparently I was going to be a thief all those years ago. I definitely like Siege rules better. The insurance on the normal shards takes all the fun out of it.

The only thing that still concerns me about Siege is the population. If I were to, for example, want to continue to build my character into a thief, are there enough people on the shard that I wouldn't have to resort to trying to steal from the same couple of people all the time? Or if I were to go the crafter route, are there enough people to support my trade?

I love harsher death penalties in MMOs. The mainstreaming of them made me quit playing pretty much. I would love to be able to play the first years of UO and EQ again. Eve captures that somehwat, but I just couldn't get into it.

So most player don't have much on them to take.
unless you kill them.

In all honesty, you should play what gives you the most pleasure. That was the best advice I got when I first started playing Siege many years ago. Like most/all people here, once you play here, you would not want to leave here.

Before my Siege days, I was one fo those girls you saw at Brit bank wearing my "evil mage" clothes and flashing my wrist watch. One day I was doing some holiday trading and stumbled upon this shard called Siege Perilous. I left Napa and started fresh and new here. I have never looked back since. Even when I quit back in 2008 and came back, just recently, my only thought was I am not coming back UO, I am coming back to Siege.
Appalachian, you will love it here. The people here are great! It is always nice and quiet on Siege, until you speak up on general chat. Word of advice, try not to spell any words wrong... Just joking...
