Enjoyable Invasions

I've been a bit of a negative nanny on here lately with my disappointment of NL but I can say I'm enjoying the invasions. Only just been getting into them the past week but there's a nice balance of mobs to be found, some are quite difficult for me (like the paragon variants of Boneweavers and Skeletal Dragons), but the rest is a fun 'shoot anything that moves'. The shattered sanctum rewards drop frequently enough to get a little dopamine rush of winning goodies, although I don't know what I should be doing with them - they are just accumulating in my house.

Something I don't like though is the inability to dispel Revenants. Their was an undead creature capable of spawning them during a Trinsic invasion and they can't be provoked, directly attacked or single/mass dispelled, so it seems you just have to suffer them until they disappear (which may entail running through some of the invasion hoard to avoid them). This in addition to them sticking to you, so being unable to outrun them. You may only find some mercy if you are close enough to the town gates to run outside and dispel them beyond the towns 'protection'.

I've hardly been playing the last few months - last few years, in fact - but logging in this last week to repel invasions is fun... even though the invasion mechanic is far from novel.

A small victory for UO.

Also, cheers to the other players on Europa who've been participating, I've received some resurrections from you folks and it's greatly appreciated given the local Healers cabin is often camped by mobs.

There are areas in each city where nothing can be dispelled. They can be by the Trinsic bank by the entry, but not by the healer.

Bad for mages that use EVs.

Hand in the drops to the trader in Brit commons.

I've only been able to dispel revenants using chivalry.

I usually recall or gate to Luna bank and call guards, and then go back, to get rid of the revenants I cannot dispel.

Here's the list of what you can exchange the drops for: Treasures of the Shattered Sanctum – Ultima Online

Thanks for the info, and also for the advice regarding the Revenants.

Some cool things on the reward list to save up for, like the Tome, Compendium or Medallion. Shame there's not a musical instrument on the list — as I am a collector of such things. Oh well.

Merry Christmas everyone~

Have you seen the Musical Instruments on the Bucs Den Pirate NPC that you can get from turning in Maritime crates?

No, I missed that, I will definitely take a look. I don't have the High Seas expansion though, nor do I have a fisherman. Perhaps these would be significant obstacles to procuring Maritime crates... I will check the UO wiki.

I don't think you need fishing. You need a ship with cannons, and you will need to kill orc pirates. The maritime cargo is loot in the pirate ships and pirate beacons. You only need the high seas expansion I believe, then buy a gargoyle ship, or Tokuno ship, equip with some cannons, and kill pirate ships and merchant ships. You do not have to kill the merchant crew, just scuttle their ship, then loot the cargo they will nt attack you, and they give negative karma if you kill merchant crew. Get the other crates too, tons of ore cannon balls, gunpowder, fruits etc also. It is fun but get ready to die if you are not careful with the beacons. Archery works, taming and imagery with high eval also works.

Gonna take a very long time to just scuttle ships to get points on the black market. A crate from a beacon is worth 10x more than the highest other crate. The next lower crate is worth 10x less.

Can tune them to stones.

You actually do not need high seas (i.e. canons on galleons) to get the turn-in crates. If you just use a regular boat and kill the crew of ships and the crew of beacons (as well as the monsters spawning nearby) and lastly the beacon itself, the turn-in crates will drop in your backpack. It will take a long time and you do not get the loot from the ships and beacons, but technically you do not need to upgrade to farm vendor points.

I have seen a player take on a beacon as an archer on a normal ship. I hope he finished before it went poof.

If you use a pet that only wastes mana on dragon breath, it will possibly spend all mana on this ranged attack special and spam it. At 1000 hp, dragon breath causes 200 damage to the beacon every time. So archer-tamers or thrower-tamers can do it.

Ok, I did some testing with a 1000+ HP pure dragon breath pet with my mage-tamer casting explosion on the beacon (meteor swarm doesn't work) after posting this. It took 34 mins to destroy the beacon once it became vulnerable. Biggest issue is that the pet only uses dragon breath every 20 secs (thus only 600 damage per minute) even if it has plenty of mana. I was originally trying to use my archer-tamer, but got the soulstones on other characters currently, but as far as I remember, beacons have no slayer vulnerability or enemy of one vulnerability, so it might even take LONGER.

I heard that magery mastery pets no longer teleport to beacons, otherwise this would have been another good option to farm crates without the high seas upgrade.

I cast an RC onto the Beacon and help him out with Chain Lightning. It works quite well.

OP does not have high seas, thus no galleons, in turn meaning no canons. So you have to destroy it with spells, archery or throwing, as you cannot board the beacon without canons.

Also, the beacon is immune to energy damage, chain lightening will not do anything.

Not having high seas is ridiculous
I dunno Anon, I just stopped buying the expansions at some point. Let me know if they release an expansion called "Classic Britannia Dungeons: Restored" and I'll hand over more money.

Edit: Just read High Seas adds another 20% to Household and Bank storage, I think I'm sold.

Edit 2: Yeah, I bought it. Yay for more storage. They must add that perk knowing it alone sells itself.

Ive played on and off for 26 years (oldest account is 312 months). I 'quit' in at the end of 2018 again after the Europa RP scene finally hung up its emotes, but something got me logging in again. I've had fun running my RP macer through the undead swarms, dying many deaths whilst remembering how to play again, and I must say I'm having fun!

*salutes the thread*

I use the chain lightning on the crew. The beacon can take fire damage but I wouldn't want to stand there all day casting at it.

I also recently came back. For the umpteenth time. Also having a great time with the invasions, though in general things seem dead(general chat, forums, etc). So I suppose bittersweet. Awesome to see the current events, sad to see how few people are playing production. I haven't dipped my toes in NL yet.

Some self reflection: I went from "THEY RUINED OG DUNGEONS, THEY AIN'T GETTING MY MONEY!" to "TAKE MY MONEY!" in a matter of minutes. I got absolutely wrecked.

The expansions are Worth the 1 time cost. Things in ToL are a lot more challenging and there are many quests.

High Seas is quite fun.
