I've been a bit of a negative nanny on here lately with my disappointment of NL but I can say I'm enjoying the invasions. Only just been getting into them the past week but there's a nice balance of mobs to be found, some are quite difficult for me (like the paragon variants of Boneweavers and Skeletal Dragons), but the rest is a fun 'shoot anything that moves'. The shattered sanctum rewards drop frequently enough to get a little dopamine rush of winning goodies, although I don't know what I should be doing with them - they are just accumulating in my house.
Something I don't like though is the inability to dispel Revenants. Their was an undead creature capable of spawning them during a Trinsic invasion and they can't be provoked, directly attacked or single/mass dispelled, so it seems you just have to suffer them until they disappear (which may entail running through some of the invasion hoard to avoid them). This in addition to them sticking to you, so being unable to outrun them. You may only find some mercy if you are close enough to the town gates to run outside and dispel them beyond the towns 'protection'.
I've hardly been playing the last few months - last few years, in fact - but logging in this last week to repel invasions is fun... even though the invasion mechanic is far from novel.
A small victory for UO.
Also, cheers to the other players on Europa who've been participating, I've received some resurrections from you folks and it's greatly appreciated given the local Healers cabin is often camped by mobs.
