I know this has probably been said a million times, but I just installed the EC yesterday as someone made a comment [GX? Luka?] about EC being nice for Treasure hunting due to the backpack/chest item display. Which it is great for, the rest..?

One simple word... crap.

Graphics are *SO* horrendous. Characters are out of proportion with the rest of the world, sitting on my ethy I look like Blob from the X-men.

I will give some credit for the paperdoll, that is pretty cool, I like how that looks, but it's really difficult to get past the rest.

They really tried, it was nice to see different looking monsters instead of re-hued graphics, but it still looks like a 15 year old made the models during computer class.

It's unfortunate that UO's better years are behind them, because if they made the EC look like NWN it would be full of WIN, but as it stands it's pretty horrid.

Sorry, about 2 years late, but had to vent because now the 'high res' graphics are making their way into 2D and I'm sure they're just trying to force 2D using to get used to the crappy dis-proportioned graphics so we'll eventually make the move to EC.

I thought the monsters (for the most part) were pretty well done actually. Avatars I agree are not great.

The new client has a very mishmash feel, but that's understandable since it is a mishmash. KR client looked more like it all fit, but it was kind blurry and the item art was atrocious.

The SA client does have some great features, but It just doesn't feel right to me either.

I dislike the back packs and storage slots. I find it more difficult to find stuff in my bag. So ill stick with classic

I dunno man... I`ve made the switch recenlty after several attempts at "making" it work. Pinco`s UI was the last nail in the CC coffin for me. I don`t even notice the graphical differences anymore. I love settin a loot bag and right click looting. Gold in main pack and everything I loot into whatever pack I designate. I love the auto-move around objects,no more hangin up on them damn tree`s or shrub`s ya can`t see. I always outrun (CC)Ginsu with the EC. The response time for me is much better and when i do switch back to CC I notice the jerky,clunky feeling of the old client I never used to notice.

Overall the functionality of the EC combined with Pinco`s UI is what makes me forget all things CC. If ya zoom out a little bit everything is in proportion and a few other things ya may try: If your using a quad core....hit alt,cntrl,delete and hit the processes tab than right click UOSA.exe and select affinity and disable 2 of your processors. Also enable vert sync. Those 2 things make mine run alot better,no jerkyness or flawed graphics when your running/on the move.

I like not having to use a sextant or uo cartographer or UOAM or UOA or any of the other "helpers" that makes the CC more user friendly. I think for me....I`d hafta give up UO if I had to go back to the CC and all the little things like dragging every lil thing out of a corpse,or a cluttered backpack or any number of things I don`t miss not having to do.

But...to each his own. I have alot of friends who are CC only too, I was one of them too. To me,their missin out on alot less frustration.

*edit* NOT to mention see`ing the intensities of the things your picking up,ez to sort between junk and those that unravel to a relic frag!

EC has so much to offer and I dont have to use anything else but the client only. I dont see anything bad about graphics.

This. And when I zoom out everything looks way better.
I think I'm not going to play UO on CC ever again

Using ec for over 2 years now, but without addons . Sure some graphics are ugly as hell, but i can live with that. But being able to play in native resolution on a big screen and the so much better ui compensate for that.
Its very easy to set a whole bunch of macros and hotkeys for a lot of chars and actually remember them thanks to hotbars.
Not going back to the current cc.
Also being able to put everything from your backpack or stat window onto hotbar and the builtin bandage timer are a big plus. Fast weapon switch for dexxers, can have a button for every weapon you got. Same for spellbooks.
See how many of each consumable or reagent you have in pack.
Im not a big friend of quick suit replacement as there is potential for abuse, but its possible.
Unlimited number of macros, no need to buy uoa. A real world map builtin.
See your party members on that map or mark interesting places.

The biggest killer for me is the graphics, especially your avatar. The even scrolled out it's out of wack, if they're going to do it, they need to do it right and stop trying to borrow graphics from the CC, just scrap it all and make some nice graphics.

Sounds like there's some nice features, I really haven't played with it much, but I really have a problem with the graphics. I not a graphics guy [I'm playing CC for pete's sake!], but when it looks amateurish at best, that's a deal breaker.

I guess time will tell, as I said, the backpack portion is spectacular for T-hunting or finding that one particular thing that you *KNOW* is in there, but buried... I'll check out Pinco's UI and go from there as well...

Doubt I'll be a convert anytime soon, but maybe I'll be less of a h8r in the future. *grins*

EC LOOKS like you move faster but I've raced (on foot) people on EC and we move equal distance over time.

It's really simple for me: it looks like hell. It's a vomitous mess of poo. Bland colors, horrifically misproportioned abominations of graphical representations of what UO was. If they could make it look at least mediocre, I would give it a shot because, really, CC's UI leaves a lot to be desired but EC makes me feel like I am playing in a game created by the ******* love child of Helen Keller and M.C. Escher. It's like driving a Pinto with a Veyron engine. It's like, well, it's like playing a decent game with ****ty graphics...

I dont know about moving faster but it sure is more smooth to move in EC for me. I can understand not liking it but it feels like you are exaggarating it a bit. I personally can't see how it can be such a hell compared to CC graphics
