you can't charge up the writing desk with crafted scribe's pens because they face the wrong direction - you can only charge it up with store bought scribe's pens because they face the other way - definitely needs to be patched

Not wanting to be a pain in the arse, but I got my desk yesterday, and loaded it with pens my tinker made for it. Maybe a glitch in your desk?

Right click it, put it on repair mode, use it and target a blank scroll.

Yes they fixed the writing table with that hot patch yesterday.
*shrugs* if you're makin & usin the pens anyways, does it matter? It's not like you were makin pens & ditching those that didn't have xxx uses?

It's been a long time since I'd looked at the pens. when I tinker, anything under 100 uses gets scrapped/trashed/dropped on the ground. But I simply do not recall making 270+ use pens! I might burn off some ingots and see how many it takes to get even one.
Frankly if I can POSSIBLY tinker pens 200+ uses, what do I need to do the BODs for? And just from smithing, I have a hard spot for the difficulty of filling larges - mainly due to RNG (or whatever) that determines what is handed out for smalls.
I just returned to the game. Can someone please explain about enchanted writing desks, where you get them, or can they be crafted? How many pens will they hold, do you double-click the desk to get it to work, and does it have to be locked down or secured? My scribe will appreciate your answers

If I'm making tools to go into things like the writing desk, it all gets dropped in, regardless of the uses on it. Many a mickle makes a muckle, as my aunt would say.

what would have made a great scribe desk is if you could toss not only the pens but blank scrolls and reagents, blank runes in it then all you have to do is pick the scroll or runebook you wish to make and tada!
You want the raised garden bed of 'powertools', don't you? If you're doing that with the desk, might as well do it with the rest as well ...
@Cailleach I love the raised garden beds. Have 6 of them on Sonoma and three more on Siege. Super cool items.
Ah, I have nine in my house, with a constant cycle of resource plants, mostly orange petals, going. I wouldn't mind if we could throw resources into the power tools - I kinda think we ought to have to keep the beds loaded or the plants die - but the biggest bit for me is mana. With maxed out LMC it still seems to take far too much to do higher level scrolls. Everything else is a make max and let it run thing but that one!
Would someone mind sharing the advantages of having and using an Enchanted Writing Desk. I do a lot of rune book, atlas and scroll making. I usually just post myself in that corner of Luna bank right outside the wall of the mage shop, that way I can open bank for my inscription resources and buy from mages more pens, scrolls and regents as needed. So, how will the Enchanted Writing Desk help improve my craft? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

The Enchanted Writing Desk holds up to 5,000 charges from scribe’s pens so you can do massive amounts of crafting without having your backpack space taken up by tools.
If you enjoy 'company' stay in Luna. If you enjoy solitude, load up the desk and Scribe away! Both work beautifully

I do most of my bulk scroll scribing at the Acid Slug Pit in the Underworld, with a Giant Beetle holding my Blank Scrolls and Regs. My Scribe has 20 Necro/GM SS for Wraith Form leeching, and when i start to run low on Mana, i cast Thunderstorm or Essence of Wind to regain Mana from the Acid Slugs. Basically infinite Mana then.
