well.. i used it on iron and got shadow iron... no idea past that though

maybe it turns iron into a random other type of ingot?

That seems a waste. The requirements are much higher and the 10 iron beetle scales and 20 Dull copper,20 Shadow,20 Copper,20 bronze , lead one to think it will do something grand indeed.

Well if it is random like I think, that would probably include verite or valorite as a chance...
