EC vs Classic+UOA

This might be offtopic, but since I do not know where else to ask: how does EC compare to using the classic client with the UOAssist addon?

I am very happy with EC, but a lot of players seem to be using the classic client with UOA...

On similar notes: I have repeatedly read that EC is not ideal for doing spawns or PvP due to reliability issues. In the few weeks of my game I never had any issues besides minor graphical glitches, but I wonder if I might run into problems sooner or later?

Mostly good, but if you've come to depend on one or two key features of UO:Assist you may have trouble adapting. In some ways EC excels far over the limitations of Classic+UOA, with a few drawbacks that have long remained unaddressed and a deterrent to long-time UO:A users. EC is much more flexible, but people tend to stick with what they know.

Usually the reliability issues of complaint are either inadequate hardware or non-optimised settings, neither of which EA have been entirely forthcoming in addressing. In a few rare cases there are setups that slip through the cracks. If you're not having trouble with it, you probably won't.

I play EC almost 8 hours a day and go for days without a crash at all. I find it very reliable and don't miss UO assist at all...Macro's on EC are awesome, like being able to equip any armour or jewelery instantly, combine that with a skill on macro like stealing or taming or bard skills you can make some neat templates with less skill.

Thanks for your feedback, sounds great! I'll stick with EC then...

(And when I suck major at PvP at least I'll have something to blame. :)

I don't use the EC because of eyestrain with the graphics, but I hear the last patch might have actually helped in that regard ... mebbe someone can confirm that?

CC + UOA. I use UOA for the organizer and sell agents a lot. I can have up to 3 packs with all sorts of stuff being dropped in them by UOA. Example: Paladin goes a-hunting ... collects armor, bones, various reagents for the crafters to use. 1 pack is for regs - drop on the pack; 1 pack for bones - drop on pack; 1 for all else (armor/weapons/gems)

when main pack is "busy" a quick timeout to kickoff 3 preset macros to activate Organizer 1, then 2 then 3. A 4th macro (preset) cuts the bones just dropped into the bag (recycle agent).

Go home, sift thru armor, weapons for anything to keep for enhancing/imbuing. Go to an NPC in town and kick off sell agent. The sell agent bag is the same as the organizer bag for armor, etc above. All remaining possible armor, weapons and gems are sold in one pass. Bank the gold. Anything left is smelted for ingots <shrug>

Blacksmith doing BODs ... organizer bag for the rewards. When turning in BODs you get the pickaxe, gloves, PoF, a new BOD, scrolls, whatever. I have an organizer agent that takes all that stuff and neatly stacks each in part of an inner pack. Go home, sort it all out.

Vendor agent allows me to drag a backpack or chest into my character, tag that container then pull a complete list of the items in that container - with all the info you can see on it collected. Clear that container, save the list in Notepad, grab another container, rinse/repeat.

That actually sounds like a few very handy features that are not possible with EC...

...especially the vendor agent. I so want to be able to have a list of all my stuff (jewelry, mostly).

the only limit in using this is the item count/weight limit on the character doing it. When I'm in one of the Vendor Agent cycles, the character is stripped of any weight before I do the processing - dump it all a pouch, secure it on my house floor.

Do the vendor agent stuff and then re-gear. Pouch I use for this is a violent color of purple - which I really detest. So it sticks out and reminds me.

<shrugs and hears purple-lovers cocking their crossbows>>

I've switched from the Legacy Client/UOAssist to the Enhanced Client 9 months ago. I set up the client and the macros very properly and spent a lot of time doing this. I do not miss UOAssist at all. It took me a while to get adjusted. Whenever I switch back to the Legacy Client (which happens maybe once a month when I'm at my notebook), I fail to understand how anybody can play with this old client.

Unfortunately, the Enhanced Client still has a lot of issues, but I prefer it despite.

I did not notice any graphical change in the EC after the last patch.

EC has been very stable for me, although since the last patch I have recall crashed 3x over the span of 2 nights.

It does have higher hardware requirements so if you're spawning or PVPing make sure your computer can handle it.

My onboard video card is fine for the CC, but using enhanced I have significant Video lag. As a result I should really update to a 3rd party add on video card.

The CC is ugly, confusing, and hurts my eyes when I run it so I mostly stay in EC. Though some of the autoloot features etc. I've heard about would be really nice in EC.
