EA Customer support is worse than ever

Luke keep in mind that my neighbor is new to Luna, the previous owner never had an issue with my home and indeed expressed a desire to emulate the design and decor.

My new neighbor never had an issue until his guildmates began betraying each other for a chance to join the guild I happen to be in(I'm not a leader in said guild or even a terribly active member). They just know that I rent my vendor spaces to members of my guild for substantially cheaper than I would anyone else and for this they've decided I'm a plight upon the server and their vendors feet "MUST NOW SHOW."

Frankly, if the new owner kept the old owners design or anything close, he'd have no issue. The actions of this guy who we can only assume is the one still paging indicate he may even have designed his house so and got these new vendors so low to specifically have a reason to complain about.

Cal is the UO Producer much higher up on the food chain than the Devs. Hopefully Cal will get this settled, and we will get some straight answers, and rules on this matter.

To all those about 'let's fire the GMs and CAL DO UR JOBZ!"

Let's stop and think for a moment.

Let's say the GM's are run by the CS department which is headed independently by EA directly.

There are a set number of rules for the MMO's that the GMs need to enforce. Everyone got to here? Good.

Now let's stop to think about this. UO is 12+ years old and has gone through MANY MANY revisions. Now let's assume EA doesn't take avid notes of all these revisions so, in short, the publisher has no idea wtf's going on with it, they just pay the developers and take their cut of the profits. Reasonable? So... If EA has no idea wtf the game mechanics are, and the CS department is run by EA, who, as established, is lagging behind in game mechanics, a lot of things are gonna be in the gray area. IE, the GMs don't know if they're legal or not.

So they judge by if they think it's legal or not, based on the other games that have more concise rules.

Now to the small minded people who got here going "Well why doesn't Cal lay down the smack down of the know-how stick on dose fools?"

He doesn't head the CS department, so, if EA works like any other business and not some magicall fluffy love land, he has to get approval, to revamp the rules, using resources of multiple departments to do so. Now, EA has no idea what's going on, they're lagging behind, they don't see why UO needs its rules to be revamped because they don't understand the mechanics, they only know it gives them a profit. They're business folks, not game developers.

This is why CR sucks for UO, it's not Cal's fault, it's not the GM's fault, it's bureaucracy's fault and the lovely clueless CEO's of EA.

But, let's ignore the logic this post conveys and ague that it is indeed Cal's fault and that our UO team is evil and wants to kick our puppies, and you know who you are.

EA had controlling interest. EA controlled the pursestrings to a great extent - ie., what to spend it on, etc.

He who controls the cash controls the <insert entity here>.

In this case it would read "He who controls the cash controls UO".

The OSI label is what initially got me in here (along with friends from another game we played) because I had played U1-U4 on Atari systems. But I knew EA controlled things.

The word might not of gotten out to all the GMs. Of course we don't know this, but it would be foolish for Cal to come here post the things he posts to get the trust of the players, and not being able to get straight answers for us on the use of gozas and house designs. All we want is straight answers so we know do we take everything down so we don't banned over it, or our we all in the save zone where we can all keep doing what we do with gozas. I'm not going to get mad at Cal if he posts that we can't use gozas to do this and that. Im going to be mad about it, but at least he kept his word, and got us a straight answer.

They may start of originally, but then they divide the jobs and labor via bureaucracy because it increases producitivity, but, dividing the labor into different parts decrease productivity when one department needs to talk to another for whatever reason due to red tape that's created by the nature of the business practice.

Trust me I'm not kidding myself actually I cannot do the amazing things that other house designers do, because my uo hubbies computer locks up even if I just place them on the ground thru the whole castle. I get a call from him wanting me to move his character, because of it. the best I can do is use them to raise stuff off the ground.

the lead of the CS dept should be under the Producer's of the game(s), not an equal.
CS in GENERAL is reactive in nature ie; answering complaints/questions etc. It's the Producers job
to be proactive to minimize issues the CS team needs to deal with in the first place. Since when does the CS team even have a voice ? I'm utterly dumbfounded about this but then again, I don't work in a corporate environment.
also there is a contradiction from luna vs home blockage. luna is a public area sorta whereas the people getting in trouble are in private areas ? there must be some conflicting info the CS team is using that is no fault of theirs, just going by orders, that is allowing this to happen.

We return to the issue of goza mats. After Cal's okaying the use of elevated gozas for decorative purposes, I rebuilt a less ambitious rooftop greenhouse.

So now I have 2 warnings against my account for no reason other than terrible customer service. One for an exploit that an EA rep said was okay and another for disruptive behavior, aka covering the feet of vendors that my neighbor put down after he first got me banned.

What's really the stupidest of all of this is after the first warning you took it upon yourself to rebuild some stupid structure out of goza mats. You knew it was a sensitive issue that got you a warning and yet you decide to up and do it again after reading some stratics post by Cal. Look man goza's lag up the surrounding area when there is lots of them. They are ugly as all get out and honestly there is really NO good reason for building extra levels and whatnot out of them. Your neighbors don't like you doing it and you'll probably continue to get paged because of it. Just quit doing it! Reguardless of how great you thought it looked it was UGLY! If you want to be safe buy yourself a house on some tokuno island where you can lag up the surrounding area to your hearts content and not **** off anyone else cause you have no neighbors problem solved. so it's generally accepted that large item count will lag a person if they enter a given area(mini town etc.) are you saying that the raised goza mats and designs are worse than what is already lagging us by normal item count ? If it's visually blocking something I might understand, but for you to decide what is 'ugly' and what is not, is not for you to decide.

Did you not read the part about what you just said? He can say it's legal to dupe and script and illegally scam, but if no one tells the GMs this, it doesn't matter. My sis and I both have quest items stuck in backpacks. I have the stupid sketches from the event when Khaldun was in Trammel. Sis has "Stolen Goods belonging to Sarakki" stuck in hers. We've both paged and all we get from the lazy a** GMs is a canned mesage telling us to read the knowledge base.
