Dupping on LS

I have read about LS going down very frequently. In the past that would be an indication that dupping was occuring.

I know there is a Rare's Festival coming up on LS soon.


Makes me wonder if dupping is back on LS.

I know several of the rares dealers have been trying to make a stand AGAINST dupping, but this may be someone who is not reputable.

Something to consider?

Sadly 10 years of technology and this issue is still a problem in UO , Spring clean up would be a dupers paradise...

Interesting...I have noticed a few new names recently posting to buy high-dollar rares. Now they may be perfectly legit, and would prefer to maintain their privacy, as to not become an instant target for hackers and scammers. But they could also be seeking these rares with the intent to dupe them for maximum profit.

I would definately be careful when conducting transactions involving high-dollar rares when the buyer or seller is unknown to the Rares Community. It's always better to be safe than take a chance and end up losing out.

If there is a new duping method around, hopefully the Devs will fix it as quickly as they can, and take action against those that try it, successful or not. I would be happy to patiently wait for new content while this issue, if it does exist, is dealt with.

I do know Jeremy has mentioned recently that there have been some sort of hardware issues, but I've no idea whether that could be related to the LS shard equipment or not. Maybe we will get some clarification soon.

Two questions for you Dennar. What has dupping got to do with the shard going down? Where did you read about a Rare's Festival?

I believe Dennar is saying that one form of duping can cause the shard to crash. This would be the first I've heard of it, but I'm not really in the right circles to know anything about it...

If this is indeed the case, you could potentially sue the user doing it since they are costing the company money - lost time of the business being up and running...

I will say that I've seen more burning houses on LS while running around then I have ever seen anywhere else. I also know some people that are for sure dupers and hackers that have never been dealt with. About 90% of the PvPers speed hack and use illegal programs. LS is like the ghetto of UO.

I don't know about all that... I've played several shards, including Legends, Great Lakes, Sonoma, and Pacific - and I've stuck with Lake Superior because of its great people. (not to say the other shards didn't have great people, mind you.. I just found a strong community on LS)

I don't know about all that... I've played several shards, including Legends, Great Lakes, Sonoma, and Pacific - and I've stuck with Lake Superior because of its great people. (not to say the other shards didn't have great people, mind you.. I just found a strong community on LS)

There are lots of great people on LS they just never leave Trammel or the guard zone for that matter.

This orchard is just fine. It's the barn in the back...yeah that one...way, way back there to the left and far corner by that broken down old tractor. See it? Not far enough...keep going til you get to the pigs rolling in the mud. Yup we keep the bad apples there where they belong.

The rest of us hang out at the Skara Brae community center with fresh baked apple pies and when we're real lucky, Queen Mum's cookies.

Everything is something to consider with this much LS down time Dennar. I would say a very real possibility but until we get something official on uo.com saying there is a known issue, we are always left up to speculation.

How many days in a row is it now? A good time to do petty things whether in game or r/l is when staffing is low and it's hard to get concrete word from someone in the know. My guess is we'll hear from Jeremy sometime Tuesday that it has something to do with the problems that kept pub 53 at bay and they are working on a fix. Let's hope so anyways!

I'm off for another family day and hope it's back online when I return tonight. I hope everyone has much luck today as they play *smiles*

Actually, it's the other way around. There was a common method with which crashing the shard would result in the dupe, not vice versa. And I don't think EA could sue for downtime, since they make no guarantee the service will be available at all times, nor are they losing subscription fees since they're already paid and not refunding anything.

Back when the shard crash dupe was around the shard would crash 2-3 times a day---very similar to what I have been reading lately.

Just because we're having a festival to buy/sell and trade rares doesn't mean we're responsible for what ever theories your mind concludes.

someone as in a person who has access to quantities of rares? its a hypocritical statement. Basically saying its not a rares collector but someone who still has access to vast amounts of rare items/arties which would make them a.. collector?

It would be best to keep your conspiracy theories to your self until EA announces an official problem/solution to your shards poor performance.

So does that mean by your reasoning that the people who were banned in the last round of duping bans who owned "vast amounts" of high gold/dollar items and were duping then selling them should be considered collectors? Maybe the members of Hax guild were also "collectors"? Just because someone has a large amount of high end items doesn't automatically make them a rares collector.

Take it from a 14 hr a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year NON Cheater, that some of us do work very very hard for our few GP, indeed 3 shops, with best prices around, and a museum with every bit paid for by work, work and more work, all done with me clicking the mouse, and sweating for hours.

Not all of us Collectors are bad, dodgy, or bad for the game.

Personally, I read about dupers, I dont even know how /what/ where etc.

Sure , if an item is on the 'Dodgy' list I wont get involved, as I like to show REAL rares, and I like my hard RSI paid for items to be legit, but then, when they are, its a bit stiff to read that folks think we are dodgy,bent or immoral.

I have asked to visit the rares festival, Ive made my lil character, and borrowed and begged some gp to spend there.

Why, Cos I love UO history, I love 'Pixel Dope', I love the thought of one person saying 'Wow, thats rare, Ive not seen that before' And, when its in my museum, Im even happier, makes the ferw thousand grinded mobs and few hundred tiny profits Ive made from bits n bobs worth all the more to me

Dupers?? Guess they exisit, hell every walk of life has its dodgies, but again, every walk of life has its Honest , Some would call Honorable fools.

I just say, I have fun, I love it, so whose wrong...
