I have tried to find the answer to this simple question:

If you know your UO account name but cannot remember your password how do you recover it? I know the email associated with it but cannot find a link on the website to reset it or anything.

None of that helped. I have 3 "UO accounts" on one "email account". I remembered one password but I cannot remember the other 2. And was it really necessary to rate this thread 1 star? I have been gone for over a year and I am confused.

The account name to log you into UO will not necessarily be the account name to log into account management. Not so long ago they forced us all to make EA accounts and merged it all with other accounts so I ended up having an account name ending with "_UO" for my EA account.

I had a lot of trouble finding the correct account and connecting it with the new mythic system. What I do remember is that when you go to link each individual UO account (based on email I think) with your master account it will look like it has successfully linked but you actually have to click another button, and it isn't very obvious. I don't remember exactly what it said might have been like "continue" or something. So do that until you find that the dropdown list that is shown in the thread is actually populated with all your accounts. I hope you figure it out and good luck.

O.K. Let me clarify my problem. I can get to the point where you LINK your UO accts to your EA MYTHIC account. I cannot remember my UO PASSWORD so that I can link it. As in if I brought up my UO client that username and password is what I need to recover, not my email, I have that. There just does not seem to be anywhere on the LINK page to recover a lost password. Get it?

I checked the UO Japan website and this is what they indicate (ƒpƒXƒ[ƒh‚ð‚¨–Y‚ê‚ÌꇂɂÍ) you should do if you have forgotten the password for a UO account that was created before August 5, 2011 and that has not yet been linked to an EA Account:

On the Account Management log-in page ( https://accounts.eamythic.com/ ), click on the link in the very bottom right corner that says "Forgot your Mythic account password?" (Just an FYI, "Mythic account" is what the Account Management calls your actual game account for UO, WHO, and DAoC.)

On the next screen, type in your UO account name appended with "_uo" in the field that asks for your Mythic Master Account Name and then click on the Request button.

Apparently you will then receive an e-mail message with instructions on how to reset your UO account password at the e-mail address that was last associated with your UO account. If I'm interpreting the info on the UO Japan site correctly, you need to follow the e-mail instructions within 24 hours of requesting the password reset instructions.

Okay, there are 3* levels of accounts as far as I know and I'm not sure what they are all called.

First you have the username and password for logging into UO. Then there will be a semi-master account that is associated with that which will be "username_uo". Those semi-master accounts can now all be linked under one master account. I have my main account that I use and I also had two inactive accounts associated with 2 different emails. I think that the password for the "username_uo" account will be the same as your regular username password and that account is also linked to your email and thus the way you can recover your password.

It looks like from looking at my own account page that the absolute master account is your EA account and it probably won't have an "_uo" and the ones with the "_uo" are mythic master accounts. The following webpage has places for recovering passwords for either type. Does that work?

I also recall changing the default email with my master EA account several times in order to link all the different UO accounts because I had each one associated with a different email address.

P.S. love your chainmail and good luck. I remember it took me a long time to figure it all out.

I spoke too soon. It let me link the account but will not let me log into the game. Now that it is linked I cannot find a link that will work for resetting the password. I wonder how many people have just given up because of this.

Does anyone know how you rested a password for a UO Game account after it is linked and paid for?

Call CS. They were very helpful to couple peeps I know for the password thing as well as the proper hook up. Could save you many many hours of hit & miss & reading tmi frustration. You're at the end of the waive of folks that were lined up for help so it should be a relatively quick remedy utilizing patience and kind phone voice.

I was really hoping to avoid having to call them. You would think that they would just have a lost password option available for account passwords. What I don't get is that I did the lost password thing last night and was able to link the acct with no problem. I was able to reactivate the account with no problem and now I cannot log into the game. I can see why people are so frustrated.

Seen this problem myself, Can request a PW change on an unlinked account.. Moment you link it not a chance... (Unless someone knows?)

Mapper, YES! That is the problem! They let me change the password to link the account AND pay for a subscription but now I can not log into the game WITH the password I changed it to nor will it allow me to change the password because my current changed password does not work!

Other than calling India and trying to understand the person on the other end of the phone is there ANYTHING I can do?

The phone support group is now back in Austin and they seem to speak good English and have been very helpful lately. While the long distance call may cost a bit - it is the best/fastest way to resolve issues.

I initially had problems with the account migration and tried communicating with them via email with no luck. However, when I called that number (650-628-1001) they fixed my problem in no time. Very helpful folks, and all in English.

According to the UO Japan website, it looks like you can get help with a lost password for a UO account that has already been linked to an EA account either by contacting EA by phone or by e-mail. If you decide to contact EA by e-mail (which is perhaps the same as using their Customer Support site where you make an online submission of a help request?), it looks like you need to provide your UO account name, the name (i.e., e-mail address) of the EA Account it is linked to, and the "secret word" you assigned to your UO account.

Yes, after just under 47 minutes on the phone with someone they were able to reset the password for me. That is a serious issue. Not having the ability to do that on the website is poor customer service. It is really sad that you have to go to the Japanese website to translate it to find out what to do. Just coming back in the last couple of days I have no idea how long ago that the who process started with switching over but I have to say it is not going to encourage any new players. At least I am back in action. See you all in game!

I think all the original procedures that have been implememnted over the last 14 years by so many different treams and management was to combat accounts being hacked and stolen, has actually messed it up also for normal people.

Its got way to complicated and messed up, i dont think the current team know what to do as they would of opened there account with a different system we did years ago and no one really knows the original way apart from the japan team and our treasured vets here [thanks Tina for helping with my problem ] who have been through it all.
