Hi everyone, im a spellweaving virgin but have been wondering about the Dryad Allure spell, is the charmed subject permanant as is a tamed pet or does it have a timed life like a summoned creature, does the creature "bond" like pets,do you have to tame the creature after it is charmed, i remember once seeing a tame Actic Lord but i would love a minataur.Hope someone can give me some help.

It's permanent until you recall, it dies or you log out.

And yes, you can get a minotaur, but not a captain or scout.

I sometimes lose my Allured pet. Usually if I go thru a gate. So I make sure I say "...follow me" so to cut the chance down of losing it.
I also feed it because I assume it helps, but I'm not sure.

You don't need to feed allured pets. I never did.

Nope, no feeding required. He's not tamed so you don't need to keep him happy.

When gating, use "all follow me" and then WALK through the gate... running gets you ahead of the mob and results in him being too far away.

Does anyone know if you can heal a controlled creature with the healing skill? I was thinking about some different setups for SW on a warrior. I'm thinking of something along the lines of a druid. Right now I'm using macing, tactics, anat, chiv, SW, music & disco. Pixies can deal out some damage with me doing the tanking, especially with disco. I haven't tried this with anything tougher than an ogre lord, but I figure it's probably an invitation to a dirt nap. So, survey says? Also, how hard is it to keep these guys alive amongst serious action?

You can heal the dryad allured things with the healing skill. Magery is faster and easier.

Fey or imps make pretty good backup attackers, but will die every time they're hit. It's a challenge to keep them alive and attacking. On the other hand, you can always summon more. The spell doesn't take too long to cast. Nature's furies make better support.

If you're thinking about putting SW on a warrior, there are some other considerations as well, such as immolate weapon costs a lot of mana and isn't that effective. Thunderstorm, essence of wind and word of death are also huge mana hogs. Without meditation and mana reduction items, they aren't really worth casting either.

There are a couple of spells that are wonderful for a warrior, such as attunement and renewal, but they're very low level spells that can be cast with a low level of spellweaving. On the other hand, at 40-50 weaving, it's pretty rough to find someone to make a focus with.

When I tried making a warrior/weaver on TC, I couldn't fit weaving into the template. I eventually gave up as there are MUCH better skills for the warrior than weaving.

So does it take up a pet space when you use the spell? so if i have a hiryu i can only use allure on stuff that doesnt take up more then 1 point?

I don't know the slot requirements on all repond type creatures, however I do know that artic orge lords are 3 slots.

I'll allure a few odd things and find out howmany slots are needed.

if you have healing, you essentially 'cross-heal' your allured minion, you can heal every other second depending on your dex. a warrior using an orge lord as a tank can dominate most enemies, especially if you use gift of renewal in conjunction.

you could tank paragon balrons even, with the right tactics

That's exactly what I was thinking about. I was wondering if it would be worth the trouble to work in the minimum amount of magery to gate. With gate scrolls, +magery spellbook and jewelry it should be quite easy to manage. Fear the staff of the druid!

I used to use Arctic OL, but now I prefer Ogre Lords over arctic. I've lored a bunch and it seems regular Ogre Lords have higher hitpoints and stats. I've even had battles between the two (mine vs a guildie's) and the Arctic always loses.

The normal ogres definitely has better fire resist, and maybe better physical resist. But I still pick the arctic lord 9 times in 10.

Poison resistance trumps high resists and many hit points in my book.

Arctic ogre lords have very high poison resist (try 'em on Miasma or rotting corpses) and are resistant to all levels of poison (again, Miasma or rotting corpses). This makes them perfect for fighting mages of all kinds since your heals are never blocked by their perfectly timed poison spells.

Artic Ogre lords have the following: (45-55 physical), (-10-0 Fire), (60-70 Cold), (100 Poison), and (40-50 Energy). If something attacks an arctic ogre lord w/ poison is does NO damage. Things like dreadhorn (w/ 60% poison attack) loose over half of their damage output.

Regular Ogre Lord only have 40-50 poison resist.

orge lords & artic orge lords are more or less identical, except the artic orge lord is immune to poison, have higher cold resist, vulnerable to fire, and do majority cold damage.

most situations the artic orge lord will do better, except if the enemy does primarily fire damage.

Ahh, I see. Kinda depends on where you plan on taking him too.
Thanks for the insight!

One thing I wanted to point out... on KR, the regular Ogre Lord looks much, much better than the Arctic. It's almost like they tried making the OL more superior...... with his skull piercings and all. It should've been the other way around. Wish I knew how to post a pic. Oh well.
