So last night I went to bed just after reading the regular post IE (ending scripting, COME on cal Whacha gonna do, when UO Players run all over you!! type of post)

And I ended up having a dream, Which also means I need to take a break from UO, BUTTT.....

Heres my Idea, Complicate the skill tower. My thought and Bare with me, is a little something like this

So lets take Tailoring! These are just examples so no exacts here folks.

0-30 (Break it apart into small quest and or you may buy it)
30-32(Small quest and Some crafting)
32-36( Scavenger hunt quest/ crafting)
(Fill in the rest)

Yada Yada Yada.

#1 most important thing is it would break up the "Skill grind". Players are screaming for depth, thats what I think. If we can make the approach just not press F10, over and over and over, or clicking make max over and over, and actually have some real depth to the process, weather its Magery or Forensic ID, It shouldn't matter.

Good Idea? Bad? I think lately we just been a little obnoxious towards the DEV team, Instead of coming up with ideas (I know I know they are paid there 7-11 wages, They should figure it out!!!), Its a complicated process when 90% of UO population uses them.

and more importantly It WOULD stop scripts, Because they would (Right Cal?) make a skill system that would be EVER changing on the quest, items to collect and set up of the overall system.

They dont need all this fancy BMW coding, they can use the HoopTY in the garage. Its already there, DRIVE IT.

If you are dreaming of UO I think it's time to take a game break mate. :)

I will admit it wass like 430 and I really had a restless night.

But in all seriousness.

The idea I think would be functional. It would excite alot of players to build there skills with ever changing quest type skill building.

It would stop the boring grinding of skills. And would combat scripting. Just a thought.

It may help with the boring grind but it would not deter scripting in the least. Everything you can do in game can be scripted. Granted, some things are more easily scripted, but everything is scriptable.

All this would do is stop skill scripting, the amount of effort that would be required in making quests for all the skills is enormousness and I'd rather was spent on actually stopping the hacks/speedhacks and such at the root.

I would rather deal with the monotony thanks. The linear quest chain model for skill gain is far worse than just sitting in one location working a skill.

Edit: @ Mapper...aye you are correct. With a small staff spending time wisely is muy importante!

Nope too much like WOW and no freedom on the way to gain. Besides it breaks skilling with macros. Scripts are just advanced smart macros. To break scripts you need to break macros. We love macros!!

I will never understand how a debate about scripting ALWAYS leads to hacks and speedhacks. There are NO public hacks available for UO. Period. The ONLY rampant thing is speedhacking, which I have said on countless occasions is not even hacking. It is simply a program speeding up a process on your computer. Please, please, please stop whining about things that don't exist. Pretty soon GM's are going to be receiving pages about how the boogie man and the tooth fairy teamed up to raid their spawn.

Ya, or how Player X used an INSURANCE HAX on me. In all my years of hearing about the legendary INSURANCE HAX, I never ONCE had it happen to me and never ONCE saw it happen to anyone else.

Once they get rid of all the 1337 sPeEdHAx trammies are going to flood Fel and realize "hey, no one is speedhaxxing but im still getting owned....... THEY MUST BE SPEEDHAXXINGZ"
that or people will just speed up processes themselves.... Which wont even help since SERVER SPEED IS CAPPPPPPPPED

Why do theyneed to change anything about how the game is played. They know how to stop the program. The question you need to ask is why dont they, the how is already answered.

I think the question everyone needs to ask is: "Why should they?"

As I said in the other thread, I guess the battle is over. They have won. EA/Mythic wont do anything even though they have had the power to kill it for years.

The economy is out of whack. Meh...I guess whatever at this point. If EA/Mythic doesnt care I guess Im done caring as well. Too many years complaining.

#1 destruction of economy was dupes. Gold dupes especialy then item dupes. Because of bad coding and intentualnal coding by some old underhanded dev for profit. These were overnight destructions. If these didn't happen averagee amount of gold in game would be in low millions instead of high millions and billions per player.

Add the player base still selling items like if the people they are selling it to only have low millions instead of billions keeps the rich rich and the poor poor.

More factors to concider that brings up the situation of economy today.

That's a very correct statement I must say I agree. Nothing was more toxic than the bloody shard x-fer duping exploit. And my gut tells me duping is still a problem but I cannot confirm this at all... just speculation.

Unless there's way more Lt. Sash's than were originally accounted for, then duping is still happening.

Dev's, GMs, EMs, etc. should be under more intense scrutiny, and def not allowed to play.

Nah not at the moment. We will know it for certain if there was a dupe running out there. We would see it most especialy if your a merchant . For Now it's just imbuing making everything else in the game worthless.
