Just killed 2 vanguards in cove and right after they died the dread horses disappeared. Is this supposed to happen? I've killed a million vanguards and this just started happening...

Didn't they just teleported to the spawn point?

ive checked all throughout cove and they arent there. like 2 seconds after the vanguard drops, they disappear. really sucks because i wanna get a good dread horse 
I have been doing vanguards since the beginning. The previous poster is correct, sometimes they teleport back to the beginning right as the vanguard dies. I even have had its body back at the starting spawn spot. Just keep killin them and you will find a decent one. Try some of the other towns under seige such as Papua, Nujlem, or Serpents Hold. Good luck
We defeat them every time they spawn on Chessy, but they keep coming back for more punishment. I wish two would spawn together that would make it more difficult with the double spawn. Not sure why a leader would appear without some immediate support from his allies. It is like they are just asking to be whacked.
However it is obvious the vanguard are using some exploit and I expect they will be banned soon. Their weapons and shield are not spell channeling yet they seem to cast at will without having the items fall into their packs.
One other case where the dreadhorse was lost. In serpents sometimes they would go underground after the Vanguard was killed. Even the Vanguard body did this a few times. I think they might have fixed that problem since it has not happened in a while.

Its always happened. You just have to attack the horse the second you see it, and then the horse will stay spawned.
