Just a little Public Service Announcement for you all; a Guildmate recently forgot he's been living in Felucca for nearly 10 years, and sailed over to buy some new ships at the Floating Emporium. And here's why you shouldn't do what he did!
.) The Floating Emporium isn't in a guard zone. It's a bit silly trying to do your shopping here unless you have too!
.) After you've got killed again and again by reds with blue healers, running back to ship to high-tail it out of there might make sense... if it's a new ship and public access if it's completely disabled. If it's an Old style ship however, leaving it unlocked is a bit daft.
.) Once you've been killed on your old ship too, and this is the really important point, carrying your keys but not having them insured is unbelievably foolish. What you'll find, as my guild mate just has, is that you can't own any more ships until it decays, but the keys they just looted off you have been used to lock the gangplanks, and ensure you can't get on board to remove or refresh it. So don't do that.
.) This may or may not work, but I've asked the pirates and scoundrels I know in the area to try sinking this old boat with a new, so my friend can at least play over the weekend with other ships. None of which absolves you from insuring your boat keys if you are playing in Fel!.
