Does 100+ animal lore really hinder taming gains?

Does 100+ animal lore really hinder taming gains? I saw someone on the forums say that it does and I want to fact check this.

I'm approaching 100 animal lore and I'm wondering if I should lock it when I hit 99.9

Lore skill specifically won't hinder taming gains. If they do I too would like to see the proof that lore itself was responsible. I think it was the total skill used, but interpreted as the lore skill slowing down gains when it could have been any skill at GM having the same result. Hope that makes sense :)

However any skills you have on a template during training will increase the total skill points you're using and that could slow down your GGS gains. They might not, as you may only have taming and lore on your character, but the more skills you have and the more skill points you have used, the slower gains will be generally speaking.

Just bear in mind that lore will affect pet control, vetting success and stable slots, so you wouldn't want to just soulstone it off without a thought hehe.

Nah... this is another urban legend. Listen to Wenchy, she gives good advice. I locked lore at 110, and had no issues with taming skill gains until I hit 116-118 skill or so. But you will have to try taming something harder than just bulls for gains.

Ah okay. Yeah I didn't see any rationale behind that claim, but I thought it'd be worth asking since I'm 99whatever animal lore now. Thanks a bunch =)

I still think this is an urban myth aswell...

As far as I know your total amount of skill points only affects GGS-gains, not normal skill-gain.
