Do tamers need to take the new Quest offered by Tamer NPC's? Seems a waste of time to train up a newly tamed pet to 100% skill unless there is something to gain. Or is the quest just a tutorial? Thank you all!

just do the first part tame a new pet, you get credit for the first part, then you can release it and go to the 2nd part, training! I am currently training several pets across several shard, so for me, it going to be a long battle, but overall it will be worth it in the end.
No. The quest is a tutorial to help you understand how the system works, if you already have a good understanding you don't need to do the quest.
