do percentage increase items work?

so, I thought I'd pick up a pair of Snakeskin boots, only 2% poison but what the heck. Should've increase a point. Didn't.

then I check my shield (8% phys), robe and cape (3% phys each, I think). They make no difference.

do these % items actually work?

They do but the numbers that show for your resists are %'s so if you put on 2% poison boots, your poison goes up 2.

Do you have Magic Resist / Resisting Spells skill on that character? If yes, take off all gear and see what your character's resists are while naked. The resists on your character's gear don't stack on top of his or her "naked" resists. Your character's status bar will show the highest of his or her "naked" resists from the Resisting Spells skill or from equipped gear or from using a buff spell (e.g., from the Reactive Armor spell). So if your character's poison resist from having Resisting Spells skill is 40 but her gear only gives 35 poison resist, you won't see any difference in her poison resist value after equipping the snakeskin boots.

ahh, thank you. Yes, it'd be my Mage, so its the Magic Resist I'm seeing.

That explains it, I gotta get some better armor, lol.
