Display case Warning

Normally, you put stuff IN a display case. Did this w/ a Head of 'player name'. went poof just like dropping it on the ground. There is no IN with this "case" (not a container, it's just an animated table).
And people wonder why I have a such a negative attitude - it's not towards UO, it's towards the lame crap the Devs come up with.

I have noticed that with some items, they go underneath the display cases. Happened to me with Broken Crystals. I used CTR+Shift and raised the item with the deco tool

lol i never thought for a second it worked the way you assumed. I can't imagine making massive assumptions about new game mechanics that aren't advertised.

I kinda figured they would auto lockdown items you set "in" them but i locked them down manually to make sure. The reason many of us take these precautions with new items is because weve survived soooo many buggy new items and mess ups. We need to write a "New Item/System Survival Guide" for new or returning players, in which we can give tips to make sure you dont lose items due to a poorly detailed item/system.
I feel your pain in losing a irreplacable item and hope some good UO fortune comes your way.

Has anyone experienced this with newer items? "a head of (name)," being a very very old item does have the chance to disappear anytime it is dropped on the ground. Ive had this happen with several items a few years ago.

yeah, it's all me, I'm probably causing others to leave the game too by my mistakes from all these years. Rocking Chair hit a Luna low of 499 gold today, a big Dev created hit. People are Still praising the HS expansion.Still others don't even need the case, they had their stuff disappear just by having a castle - yeah, it's all me.
I would have Never put it on a Table,
Display case = table
Name seems misleading to me.
They could have said Table that has a pop-up top, (or whatever). It's My error because I'm still playing this bug-ridden POS

...no big deal really, I was just gonna show a piece of UO history, was only a $mil, I'll make double that back over the next few days, at night while i'm asleep. If UO wasn't such an Old Game and if it had GM support, it could have been restored

ARE you in EC or CC, are you on first floor or second/third/roof level? If you are on second or above, are there containers directly under the display case on the lower floor(s)?

In my experience with the EC, which i love, if you place an item on the display case and there is a container on a lower floor directly under it, the item will go into teh container and seem like it went poof. It took me a LONG time to realize this had happened and that i did not really lose my items.


Hopefully this is what happened to you.

I have to keep the CC on hand just to decorate my house, sad but true.

Can anyone answer my original question? I have a few display cases and this hasnt happened to me, but has it happened to anyone else with newer items than bounty heads?

The old bounty named heads are the old blessed decay. Even locking them down they can go in eight seconds or at server refresh. There are very few that do not decay but who wants to test what they have on that. The old egg nog has danger decay. Old holiday gift deeds have danger decay. Then the long list of new player charater generated items. Having the nubi scissors is always nice. The hidden bless most often can be tested and wont lock down. Or, show being locked down and server refresh see it different.

Um. You could have checked if it had a container gump first. I mean, uh... why would you assume it worked as a container when the items remained visibile on the...
